a great medium for water house plantsWilsonBe careful pouring out the pellets. The package is a little dusty. Best to pour it outside. If you must pour it indoors, I suggest placing the bag unopened into a washtub or sink or shower (in case there is a leak), cut a 2-4 inch opening, and run a few litres of water or spray pump into the bag to thoroughly moisten the pellets and drain the water by a few punctures near the bottom of the bag. Doing this will keep the dust down. They are of differing sizes and work great with plants that grow well in water. You can also use these pellets to line the bottom of a soil filled planter to improve aeration and drainage. Poor aeration and poor drainage can lead to root rot for many plants. This material could be used as a soil topping like a "permanent mulch"; however, there are probably more cost effective mediums to use like crushed rock. Remember you will typically need 2 to 4 inches for this mulch layer to be effective. Holds some moisture unlike gravel & better aeration than sand.5

For plants with high-humid needs, pour pebbles in tray, add water and set planters. Also use in tall ceramic vases to lift cut flowers for better display. Uses are endless!!5
