The team interviewed groups of children who got to try out prototypes and provide their points of view. What were their favourite colours? What did they think of the paper? “The children had very strong and sensible opinions. We also realized how they use drawing and painting gear. For example, if you’re four years old and in the middle of making a drawing, you don’t always think of putting the cap back on the felt pen. So, these pens will last up to three days without caps.” To ensure high quality at the right price, the development work was allowed to take extra time. “What children do and how they do it is super important. That’s why we considered all their feedback and made sure the products met their needs.”

Be careful, they stain!KellyBought these along with the Mala Easel for our toddler. She ended up getting a lite bit on her pants and it bled through onto her skin. The green took some really good scrubbing to get off, the red still has not come off after 4 baths. The pants were washed with a stain booster, but it did nothing. Just be aware if you have little kids using them. We'll be putting them away until she's older.
Awful!CarmenThe eraser is not even in the centre so it half erases with only the sides. The markers. Awful too and need a lot of alcohol to remove the ink and leaves a mark anyway so the eraser is good for nothing with these markers.

For all creative little explorers
Drawings all over the kitchen table and coloured felt pens without caps. Does it sound familiar? This is definitely part of living with children, and actually something to be happy about. Painting, drawing, and crafting are in fact not just fun, but important work, and a way for your child to develop. When we created the MÅLA series, we wanted to take children’s creation very seriously and listened to the true experts: the children themselves.
We always start with the child’s perspective to understand what they really need. In this project, we found facts and inspiration in pedagogy focusing on creativity. “We realized that creativity isn’t just any play for children, they’re little researchers who use creation to understand the world around them,” says Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom who was part of creating the MÅLA series.
