Does not erase, stained my Mala Easel white board!RosemarieBought these markers to add more colors for my kids Mala Easel White Board. But they do not erase, very hard to remove must use a wet rag, and rub hard to erase. My kids can’t do it without an adult’s help. It also left stains on the whiteboard. My kids get frustrated using it, compared to their original Mala markers they got with the eraser on the back. Do not recommend getting these markers, and now I have a stained whiteboard from it :( hoping ikea would able to replace my whiteboard now. 1
Terrible markers. Leaves marker dustUmairNot sure what is wrong with these markers but this is the first time we have ever experienced marker dust. It gets on clothes, flooring and is very difficult to clean. Do not buy these markers. First time ever having to leave a negative review for a product from Ikea.1

DisappointingAmandaI know the Mala Whiteboard pens are inexpensive but that fact that only one pen worked out of the 4 when I opened the packaging was truly disappointing. Do not buy! Not worth it.1
Great colours but the malaAnonymous reviewerGreat colours but the mala eraser won’t erase these. My child was so frustrated I had to erase it with alcohol and get rid of these pens. The blue, green, red, black that come with the eraser work though. Buy that one instead.1

MÅLA Whiteboard pen, mixed colors

For all creative little explorers

Drawings all over the kitchen table and coloured felt pens without caps. Does it sound familiar? This is definitely part of living with children, and actually something to be happy about. Painting, drawing, and crafting are in fact not just fun, but important work, and a way for your child to develop. When we created the MÅLA series, we wanted to take children’s creation very seriously and listened to the true experts: the children themselves.

We always start with the child’s perspective to understand what they really need. In this project, we found facts and inspiration in pedagogy focusing on creativity. “We realized that creativity isn’t just any play for children, they’re little researchers who use creation to understand the world around them,” says Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom who was part of creating the MÅLA series.

Made for busy artists

The team interviewed groups of children who got to try out prototypes and provide their points of view. What were their favourite colours? What did they think of the paper? “The children had very strong and sensible opinions. We also realized how they use drawing and painting gear. For example, if you’re four years old and in the middle of making a drawing, you don’t always think of putting the cap back on the felt pen. So, these pens will last up to three days without caps.” To ensure high quality at the right price, the development work was allowed to take extra time. “What children do and how they do it is super important. That’s why we considered all their feedback and made sure the products met their needs.”

Easy to get started

The MÅLA series has been around for a long time, but it keeps growing and evolving as we see new needs and get new ideas. All parts should be easy to grab and use whenever inspiration strikes. “The child shouldn’t need a parent nearby to start drawing or painting. Being able to do things on your own is an important part of development. You grow with the task.”
