This table has been developed and tested for home use and is not suitable for installation of a screen stand. Maximum evenly distributed weight is 50 kg. Do not place concentrated weight exceeding 15 kg on a small surface on the table.For tabletops with length 200 cm an extra leg is needed in the middle for stability.This desk has been tested for domestic use and meets the requirements for durability and stability set forth in the following standards: EN 12521 and EN 1730.

Nice, Sturdy Desk OverallBradWe just picked up the Lagkapten/Alex desk in black/brown.
Overall, we are pleased with the desk. It is sturdy, has more than ample storage and looks great.
But there are 2 things we must mention.
First, do yourself a favour and attach the top BEFORE adding the drawers to the cabinets. Otherwise, you will have to remove the top drawer fronts to access the mounting holes and have very limited space to turn the wrench. This should have been addressed in the instructions.
Second (and we feel it is a design flaw), the metal leg s attached right in the CENTRE of the desktop. In the images, it appears to be placed toward the back, but it isn't. Therefore, you have to straddle the post with your legs while sitting at the desk.
These 2 points are the only reason we dropped the desk to a 4-star rating. Other than these issues, we are very happy with our purchase.

Lots of storage for sewing materialsHeatherIt Makes a great sewing table with a serger at one end and a sewing machine at the other end. I have limited space so this just fits and I am putting pegboards above.
Large deskHeatherI have been waiting a long time for the white desk to be in stock. Was super easy to put together. Love that I now have a large work surface that a ‘regular’ desk can’t compare.
Instructions are not clear. WeAnonymous reviewerInstructions are not clear. We ended up unassembling some portions to get it right. Put numbering on the parts and the instructions. Also make sure to indicate which side is up and which one faces down.
Great desk with a design flawAgapiHandsome desk, very practical, great size, and not too difficult to put together. The issue is the leg in the middle. I understand why it is there, but it impedes the placement of my footrest, which is needed for long work days at this lovely desk. For my short legs, putting it behind the pole is not a comfortable option and in front of it makes the footrest too close. Otherwise, a splendid desk!

Great deskSusanThis unit is exactly what I was looking for to use as a sewing desk. Very sturdy, lots of storage for sewing supplies. The serger thread cones fit perfectly in the larger drawers.
Solid computer desk with large surface area!!AnthonyI had informed corporate of their error in the instructions manual that comes with the desk build.
Part number #118331 for proprietary fasteners with sleeve and spacer are described in page 5 of the ALEX manual draft diagram as what not to do "bottom out the screw past the spacer;"however it's described in image to screw fastener past the metal spacer up to the plastic sleeve.. Which if that is the case, it would bore a hole through the material board damaging your product. This needs to be better drawn so people like myself don't need to search up a YouTube video. The manufacturer mustn't be complacent and get their drafters to make a small amendment to the copy currently being distributed.
Besides that, IKEA builds are always fun and bring a beautiful aesthetic to any living space!

Material
What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
