Great for LegoRhiannonBought this Lack shelf specifically to showcase mine and my husband’s Lego collection. We put it up quite high on our wall, about 19 inches down from the ceiling. Will be buying another for the rest of our collection!
Works great but not made for standard constructionBrehaThe shelf looks great once it's on the wall. From far away, you wouldn't be able to tell it's not real wood. However, you'd think that Ikea would make it possible to hang it directly on the studs by having more holes in the mounting bracket. The holes don't line up with standard 12" or 16" stud spaces. Seems like a large oversight on Ikea's part. If that was fixed, I'd give it a 4 star review for sure.

Good shelf but bracket modifiedAngelaThis is a beautiful shelf and works great in our space. However we had to modify the bracket. A floating shelf needs to be mounted to studs, and studs in North America are spaced 16 or 20 inches apart. The mounting bracket needs to have more holes spaced like this.

Cautionary note - if you're looking to string several in a row, make sure your wall is even or you have some mending braces and short wood screws as this will throw you off (though, arguably, it would throw any shelving off).

Getting cheaperJakubI had older lack shelves and the metal support was thicker and more sturdy. Now its thinner and too flexible. It still holds in the wall but i see the materials and products are getting cheaper and made with less quality than before.

What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
