Far superior to Always PanDorthyI bought this along with the 11" sauté pan with lid because the lid of the sauté pan fit the frying pan and together they cost much less than a new Always Pan. In comparison, they are superior: glass lid is better quality and see through, wooden handle looks good, fits comfortably in my hand, is firmly attached and has an accessible screw if I need to tighten it in the future, and I wasn't forced to buy at the same time a useless steamer with metal feet that would scratch the pan if I ever used it and a poorly designed wooden spatula. In addition, at some point in the future, when the non-stick coating on this pan inevitably wears out, I will not feel robbed and hopefully I will be able to replace just the pan at Ikea. I've used it twice and it didn't stick and cleaned up easily. My only complaint: it dips up a bit in the centre even when hot. The turquoise of the pan doesn't exactly match the colour of the sauté pan which is not a problem for me.5

cute and goodAlinalove the simple and stylish design. Worked well as the daily fried pan. You do need to wash it thorughly before use it for the first time - there is a layer of light blueish color dust from the coating. I just hope the coating color wont be absorded by the food during the cooking over time.5

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colours, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
