Part of the Nytillverkad collection where several IKEA classics have been given a new look.
Designer Noboru Nakamura used LAPPMON sofa as a starting point when he created KLIPPAN. By simplifying and shortening it by 18 centimetres, less materials were needed, which effected the price positively.
Hallsta cover was first shown on the cover of our 1984 catalogue. Now, 40 years later, it has been given a new life under the name Långban.
Durable metal springs in the seat give the sofa a springy comfort, allowing you to sit, relax and enjoy it for many years.

This seating furniture is tested and complies with relevant strength and durability standards. The tests simulate typical usage of the product and are based on use by persons weighing up to 110 kg.The cover has a lightfastness level of 5 (the ability to resist color fading) on a scale of 1 to 8. According to industry standards, a lightfastness level of 4 or higher is suitable for home use.This cover’s ability to resist abrasion has been tested to handle 50,000 cycles. 15,000 cycles or more is suitable for furniture used every day at home. Over 30,000 cycles means a good ability to resist abrasion.

Did not lastDestinyBought less than a year ago. All the padding has shifted, you can feel the wood frame on your back and bottom. Disappointed that I wasted my money. Was the perfect size for a small place.
Not for regular useDanielleLooks great but after only 7 months of daily use the cushioning on both arms have gone wonky. One arm is caved in, the other is bulking out, and the padding on top is loose and can be moved around. I contacted customer service and they denied my warranty claim. Still using it but for the price I expected it to last longer.
Had for 23 years- but little used due to covers shiftingClaireI have had my klippan loveseat for 23 years. I've gone through 4 different covers for it of varying colors and have even left it bare for about 3 years (back then. the frame was "natural/cream"). I have finally decided to get rid of it in favor of something that will last for the rest of my life. My husband and I have used this for the equivalent of maybe 2 years in 23 because it's absolutley annoying when it has a cover on it. You literaly need to smooth it out after every use or it looks literally like an unmade bed. Leaving it without a cover can be almost as bad. It wrinkles and of course, is a stain magnet. In short, it's fine for someone starting out in their first apartment but it's not a "forever" loveseat by any means. For daily use, we would have gotten rid of it 20 years ago, no doubt. I give it 3 stars only because it's lasted, but again, with little use.
Good sofaCharleneLove the design. Had one from few years ago that was white in a fake leather finish that I prefer to the fabric and it was so cheap then. Still love the design and I like firm sofas so this is perfect for me. It's easy to assemble and light and easy to move, big enough for me to nap on but not too big for an apartment. Just wish the price hadn't gone up so much since covid
Not like it used to beJenniferI have 3 klippan sofas. Two are from 2005. One is from 2018. The 2005 version are still going strong. Came fully assembled except for the legs. Frame and padding amazing. The one from 2018 which required assembly is ready for the garbage. Shame on you ikea. Quality matters for sustainability.
Bring back the old klippan. Let’s keep them out of landfill.

Does not stand the test of timeMariaBought this early 2022 as an everyday couch for a small condo. After a year and a half of usage, the back support is caved in (I do tend to sit on one side of the couch). The cover itself will slowly be untucked if adjusting your seating/laying position. Pros are that it was pretty easy to install and isn't too much of an eyesore. It's also unfortunate how limited the seat cover options are, although perusing third party sellers is a (pricey) alternative.
Fantastic Loveseat for the moneyJessicaI was a bit hestant to buy this after some other reviews but it turned out to be great. Easy to put together but definitely a 2 person job. Love that there so many covers available online if you want to change the colour.

1 Month usage reviewTejaAssembling is easy and intuitive, won't require the manual. Lack of availability for choice of seat covers is bummer. The seating is hard, although in-store feel is quite the opposite. Would need to test it for a few more months to evaluate if it is new material hardness or the behaviour of the material. And last but not least, static, lots of it just sitting on it for 5minutes and you are bathing in it.
Not what it used to beShannonI owned a whole set of Klippan in the past and they were great comfortable couches. Unfortunately there has been a change. They are not as comfortable as they were nor like the demo in store. The cushions are very firm. If the demo had been the same I would not have purchased this couch.
Third time no charmCameronI have purchased 3 of these over time to replace one another. Each one has been engineered to weigh less; lower quality fabrics, less dense padding, thinner particle board, one less seat cover tube! This third and recent (final) Klippan is terrible. Two months of use and it creaks loudly every time someone sits or gets up. It's not a 'break in period' or anomaly, it's a knock off of the original design. The seat cushions are already worn in. The manufacturer is more concerned with building an inferior version of a great original design to offset fuel costs to ship this product in from overseas? or make a quick buck? than maintain quality of the original product design. It is now essentially furniture for kids who weigh under 80 pounds. I'd rather pay the extra $200 for a higher quality model of Klippan like the first one purchased a decade ago. If this 'timeless classic' design is any basis, the company has no consistency of product and cuts every corner to maintain a low price point.

This is an easy toLauraThis is an easy to assemble lightweight couch that gets the job done. Aesthetically it's beautiful and modern, but it's not as comfortable as we had hoped. The back of the couch is low and doesn't offer much support. We use over sized pillows behind our head and neck for support. Also, it's short. 2 adults and a small child could sit on this couch but 3 adults would be a bit too much. If you're a shorter person, you could lie down on it but a person of about 5'10 may be uncomfortable. It takes a few times sitting down on the couch to break it in. When it was delivered it was stiff almost to the point of discomfort. The material softens over time. I like the fact that the covering is removable for washing purposes, which is a bonus for anyone with small children.

A sofa for the many people
In the late 1970s, product developer Lars Engman asked designer Noboru Nakamura to create a robust sofa with soft corners and a washable cover – at a price that families with small children could afford. Nakamura used LAPPMON sofa as a starting point. By simplifying and shortening it by 18 centimetres, less material was required – and there was room for more on each pallet.
