Feels Nothing Like the Store Model – Hard, Stiff, and No Memory FoamDeanI tried this couch in the store and loved it. Before buying, I researched it online and read that it contained memory foam, which made sense because the display model was soft and comfortable.
After bringing it home myself and assembling it, I quickly realized this couch was nothing like the one I tried in the store. It is extremely firm, uncomfortable, and does not feel like it contains any memory foam at all. The difference was obvious immediately.
I'm very disappointed and will be returning it. I had to haul multiple heavy boxes home and spend time assembling the couch, only to discover that it feels like a completely different design. I feel misled by the in-store experience and the information I found before purchasing.
Overall: If you're expecting a soft, memory foam couch like the one on display, that was not my experience.

Excellent for the priceEmmaI avoided buying this couch for months because of the negative reviews, but I really think it's a solid choice for such a low price. My parents have the older model Kivik from about 10 years ago and this one feels about the same to me with different fabric. The assembly wasn't too difficult, you do have to put the cover fabric on but it's all very straightforward; it took two of us about an hour from start to finish. It is a very attractive and comfortable couch for our basement movie room. The cushions are firm for sure but I think it will soften over time. I like it!
Amazing!GregWe love it. Although we did go back and get a new cover for it. The 'Tibbleby beige/gray' is a bit rough and not very soft...so we went and got the 'Tresund anthracite' and instantly loved it. gets better by the day.
Cover is very badPascaleHello I bought 2 sofas 2 weeks ago, black anthracite, for my family room. The cover is of a very bad quality. The sofas look very cheap. I had bought a similar kivik sofa in 2022 but the cover was of a great quality. I need to know how this can be handled. It's really annoying. Thank you.
Solid couch for the moneyChrisWaiting for it to break in and feel like the one in the store but very pleased with it despite the difficult assembly which is mostly due to the fact that all the material needs to be put of the hardware.
Rough irritating fabric (grey) MarkoTurns out different color also gives you different fabric. We had one in beige before which nice, comfortable to touch. Now that we bought the grey, fabric is so itchy, rough, feels awful to touch, so cheap. I went back to look at small print and sure enough fabric type varies between different colors! Why would Ikea do that is beyond me. You may try their Kivik in store and order a different color but you end up with a completely different type and feel fabric.
Great couchAprilPurchased in 2018 and while still really comfortable after lots of use in a well loved living room they look just a little tired. Considering re-purchasing the same product as other furniture stores are asking $3500 for one similar styled couch!
Worst customer service I ever seenShimaDuring assembly of this Sofa an insect probably bed bug came out. I wanted to return the Sofa. But they didnt consider that they should pick uo this dangerous item quickly. They didnt care that they should prioritize picking up this item, and gave me the farthest date for pick up. They were not even clear and correct on pick up time. The day missed, and I had to wait another week to return the Sofa. Not yet even completed after 2 weeks! If you respect yourself don't rely on ikea customer service. They dont respect your time, energy, safety. They don't respect. Make sure if you had to ever return anything just forget it forever!
Not Very Comfortable or DurableAbdullahI bought the sofa expecting something that would last a long time, but it started showing serious wear after just a few years of light use. The cushions lose shape quickly, the seating comfort drops, and overall it starts feeling saggy and less supportive much sooner than I expected.
The sofa is fine for occasional use, but it’s clearly not built to hold up over the long term. The construction and materials just can’t maintain shape or support with regular sitting. I tried going through the warranty process, but it was so inconvenient (for example, having to load the sofa and bring it to the store yourself) that I eventually dropped it. I think the warranty process itself has been designed to be inconvenient and frustrating, which may discourage people from making claims . that’s why you see so many of these on the marketplace being sold after only a couple of years.
This isn’t a sofa you can rely on for long-term comfort or durability, and it isn’t very comfortable to begin with.

Love itJadrankaI bought my KIVIK sectional about 12 years ago, and it’s still in great shape! The frame and structure have held up really well (still like new) over the years. The only thing that could use some refreshing are the seat cushions, but unfortunately, IKEA doesn’t offer replacement cushions. I LOVE that every cover you can take it of and wash.
I’d also love to change the covers to give it a new look, but in IKEA Canada, it’s disappointing that you can no longer buy covers for this corner section or the 5-seat corner configuration. It seems that Europe and the U.S. still carry them, but not here in Canada. It’s a great sofa overall—just wish IKEA Canada offered the same replacement options as other regions!

Comfy affordable couchRosieI love this couch, bought it in the as-is section. Thought I would just buy a cheap couch, with the colour I like. Turns out this couch is comfier than it looks and have taken many naps on it. It’s been a few months and it’s still nice, plush and new looking. I’ve washed the covers a few times already and still looks brand new. The only thing I don’t like is you can’t put the covers in the dryer, otherwise I love this couch. Am planning to get the matching loveseat in the future.

Nothing like the old KIVIKSarahI used to have a KIVIK couch and I loved it - soft and comfortable with reversible cushions. Just bought another and it's nowhere near as good. The cushions are hard and feel like they have zero memory foam. The covers on the seat cushions have a weird thin back so you can't just flip them over. The cover is thinner material and not soft at all and already has threads showing. If I didn't live in a remote area where it costs me hundreds to get back to IKEA I'd return it. As it is I'll try to use a memory foam pad and a large throw cover to make it tolerable.
We like the design, but the cushions are too hard.AnWe purchased this sofa a few months ago and the pocket springs cushions have not softened. Some of our family members find it very uncomfortable to sit on.
I read that the original design had foam cushions. Can Ikea PLEASE offer the old foam cushion as a replacement??
