TroublemakerStepanI bought six of these bulbs. At first, one was a nightmare to connect. After spending hours resetting it, I finally got it working. While resetting that bulb, I accidentally reset another one that had already been connected, and it took another couple of hours to reconnect it.
Eventually, all six were connected. The bulbs that hadn't caused any problems were switched off while I was pairing the others to avoid interference. Then, out of nowhere, those bulbs started showing as offline. I tried everything—resetting Thread, restarting the smart hub, switching the lights off and on—but nothing worked.
When I tried turning the lights on and off again, the two bulbs I had spent hours reconnecting also went offline. Now all six bulbs show as offline in the IKEA Smart app, and I have no way to control them.
Is a light bulb that costs a few dollars really worth wasting an entire day of my life? Absolutely not.
Works well but...JonathanI bought a bunch of these for a friend that has a Dirigera hub and where we've been wanting to slim the list of vendors. Initially, I had no end of issues getting these to connect to the Thread network (single TBR) but eventually I did get it to connect and work perfectly, so I wanted to add my experience for IKEA and others. The issue was the modem/router provided by the ISP Telus. It seems to prevent the registrar from connecting to the registree over the (W)LAN and no available setting seemed to be incorrect or help (IPv6 was enabled, for example). As soon as I installed a 3rd party router and hooked everything up to it, registration worked exactly as it was expected to.
So if you are having issues connecting new Matter over Thread devices, it might be your ISP making things hard, and maybe if enough people complain to them, they'll fix it. Hopefully IKEA can also figure out a workaround, you shouldn't have to buy your own router for this to work
