Installation is a PITATengWe've done a lot of DIY installations around home, and we have stepladder and an arsenal of household tools. But this light is just terribly designed for installation. First of all, I don't get the 3-part design. You need a plate that fix the light to the ceiling, and that the light itself to fix onto the plate — sure. But why 3 separate things? Second, everything needs to be screwed in place. There are better ways to install it, e.g. rotate to clip (akin to how you install GU-10 bulbs), clip on. Third, the 3 screws need to be loosened to the right extent, or they'd fall off or won't let you push the light in place. Just terrible. It's a ceiling light and it's never getting touched, so installation should not have been this cumbersome. The light itself is fine. But I'll probably get a different one that can dim and have different temperatures1
Really sleek and stylish but not dimmable PaulinaWe bought this fixture for our new kitchen and love the way it looks and the warmer lighting it gives off. Not sure why people say it’s a nightmare to install as we had no issues but definitely requires someone who knows what they’re doing. Only thing that is disappointing is that it is not really dimmable. Flickers at low light. Overall though, we are happy we our purchase. 4
Terrible DesignLeoInstallation was a nightmare. Wires are very short and hard to work with. Putting the base onto the base plate was a terrible design and ended up just giving up on the IKEA provided bolts. Using M3 x 20 bolts for screwing in the base fixed the issue quickly.1
Looks Great, Works Fine, Installs Like a NightmareSteveThe IKEA KABOMBA is basically that friend who looks great in photos but is a nightmare to hang out with, stylish but exhausting. Let’s start with the install. If you enjoy wrestling with short wires, a three-piece jigsaw puzzle of metal and plastic, and a mounting plate that blocks access to the junction box, congrats, you’ve found your next weekend project. Otherwise, prepare for some creative swearing. Oh, and that “dimmable” suggestion? It’s not. Unless by dimmable they mean “flickers like a haunted house light when paired with a dimmer”, in which case, five stars for authenticity. And if you were hoping to replace the LED someday, that’s cute. The bulb is built-in, non-replaceable, and when it goes, so does the whole fixture. Hope you enjoy uninstalling it as much as you did putting it up! Look, IKEA, we love you, you’ve given us affordable stylish furniture, endless Allen keys, and an excuse for midweek meatballs. But this one's a miss.1
BrightAdreaWorks and looks great! Nice and bright for the area!5
Great entrance light!JennyWe needed a new light by the front door. This one is nice and bright but yet a wonderful soft color. Lights up the area nicely to put on coats and shoes. It was very easy to install.. but 2 people are better than one to hold it up while the other puts the screws in. 5
Good product Anonymous reviewerGreat, easy to install So far so good 5
Love itJenniferIt looks amazing in the bathroom!5
Looks good but installation is trickyDanielWires are too short for trouble-free installation. Not designed by electricians :)2
Difficult installationBushraDifficult to install1
NOT dimmableTamExtremely difficult to install because of the 3 screws on the side are plastic and no visuals. Flickers with dimmer. Certainly not the switch as it’s smart. The lamp is NOT dimmable1
Warm led not white saysKeanonWarm led not white says you can change it but the insides different then instructions1
Probably designed by a committee of engineering school valedictoriansAnonymous reviewerAbsolute trash design. Looks ok when installed. But it has a 3 piece install that would seem to facilitate an easy final 3 screw indent style fixture connection. But they never made a wiring connection at that point so you have to install all 3 pieces with the entire fixture hanging by the wires. Serves no purpose. Even now I can take it apart there and accomplish nothing. Can’t even change the bulb there. To make matters worse they use a full round plate that fully covers the JB rather than a normal 3/4” cross plate. So you can’t ever get back in at the wires without removing all 3 pieces. To further disappoint they forgot 2 screws. The only screws I had at hand from the old fixture were too short to reach the JB holes on one side as a full round plate offers 0 flexibility. And 0 visibility into the JB to see the holes. I’d assume they would have provided long screws for a bit of extra in 1/2 DW JB. Was only designed to separate you from your money. Should return out of principle.1
Soft glow and clean linesKristaI picked this sleek design for my basement condo bedrooms with their lower than average ceilings. They were easy to instal per the instructions with a helper. The light is clean and reaches all corners of my 12x14 bedroom, and the larger one too. Very happy with this choice!5

KABOMBA LED ceiling lamp, matte/black, 14 "

Hotel vibes in the bathroom

What do you feel when you step into your bathroom? Maybe it’s just a practical space for a quick check in the mirror before the day starts. With KABOMBA lighting series, we want to turn your bathroom into something more. With the right lamps in the right place, the bathroom lighting provides both functional light and a nice atmosphere – a bit like in a hotel.

How should you plan your bathroom lighting? “Bathrooms can look very different when it comes to size, style and functions. So, the best advice is to combine different light sources,” says Anna Granath, who works with lighting at IKEA. “You need general lighting from the ceiling when you clean, and a soft, glare-free light close to the mirror that doesn’t create shadows in the face."

The right light for the face

You will get the most favourable light for the face with one lamp on each side of the mirror directed at you. “A lamp with a rectangular form is good for spreading light and common in bathrooms in particular. The designers that created KABOMBA, played around with the form by dividing the wall lamp into three circles in a row. It gives a nice graphic expression.” There’s also a round wall lamp with a magnifying mirror in the series that’s good when you put in your lenses or apply makeup.

Create atmosphere with the lighting

The wall lamps are dimmable, so you can easily adjust the brightness depending on the time of the day or what you are doing. Because lighting in the bathroom isn’t only a matter of function, you can also use it to create atmosphere and a personal style. “We’ve been inspired by classic hotels and want KABOMBA to contribute to a little everyday luxury. When the light turns on, we hope you can unwind and put the outside world on hold for a while."
