Great deskRYANThe odd time when you try to lower the desk it still stop, other than that it is a great desk4
Ideal home office deskTable1234Purchase the desk as a way to get away from my kitchen island and the ability to sit / stand. The desk is ideal is in terms of size (depth being the most important) and smooth movement. As others have highlighted the stability is incredible with the triangular leg design and embedding the majority of the weight lower down into the table. Pros: - Stability - Large size available - Easy assembly (2 people required by ~30 min is plenty) - Connected app is easy to use and allow for 3x memory functions Cons (All minor in nature but highlighted for understanding): - Table is heavy (~90 lbs unloaded and hard to manipulate in small apartment spaces) but overall load limited is lower than expected (likely due to not solid wood top) - Height adjustment mechanism does not include position settings. Requires use of apps to move to fav heights. (Can be mitigated by the app or replacing with standard Linpak module) - Two wood screws included in assembly when all others are nicely pre-drilled nuts and bolts. (minor but odd choice)5
Awesome tableDejanSPDelivered in 3 boxes. 2 for table and 1 was tabletop. Easy to assemble, it took me 30 minutes with my 9 year old son. Well designed, love that you can change the size of the table and change table top. Sturdy construction far from being build cheap. I sync table with “Desk control” app and its working great. App can even remind you when to stand so you “dont forget” during your busy day. Great purchase, well done Ikea.5
Best Sit Stand Desk. Look no further. Periodkc973My primary concern in a sit/stand desk was wobble issue. Almost every desk review I came across had this issue. The brands researched were Jarvis, VariDesk, VertDesk, NewHeights, XDesk Terra and Uplift. Wobble was something common to all these brands (note these are much expensive brands than Ikea). There is another Canadian brand called Ergonofis with excellent reviews where users have mostly focused on its aesthetics and I could not find any review with wobble issues. However, having done so much research I came to a conclusion that desks with just two T shaped legs combined with a longer heavier top was simply not good enough to prevent wobble when raised to a certain height. This height varied between 45 to 47 inches and upwards as per my research. This left me to go for a desk with 4 legs but there are not enough except for Uplift. Uplift, however, is a company based in Texas and shipping a heavy desk across the border would have not only set me back CAD $800 in shipping charges but also import taxes/duties. This was a major deterrent! I finally shifted my focus to Ikea. I always knew they sell these types of desks and what better way to test drive by visiting one of their stores. There was just one problem. The stores are closed due to Covid-19 crisis except for Click and Collect. Disappointed I started going through the different models on their website when IDASEN design caught my eye. It’s not a four-legged desk but a two legged but what is so different is the IDASEN has legs shaped like an inverted triangle with a heavy vertical metal bar going through its middle. What does this mean? I’m not a structural engineer but researching for days it was evident that Ikea’s design was far more superior than any of their own 2-legged desks or their competitors. Just for the photo one can tell that wobble would not be that much of an issue and in fact the unique shape would provide superior stability. I just had to try it out. The desk was delivered in one business day and right on time. Assembling was not very easy nor very difficult but having two persons would have really helped me as the legs/frame are super heavy (for a reason). Once the main frame (backbone) was assembled, the rest became easy. It took me about hour and a half to get this thing assembled and working. You don’t require any tools other than a screwdriver. But having a drill with the right Allen key would probably reduce assembly time well under an hour. Some of the users have complained about misalignment of the holes but I did not experience that at all. The bonus: the desk up and down movement can be controlled entirely by Bluetooth. While the instructions are extremely vague and even I had trouble locating the Bluetooth button on the device, but googling I found what I was looking for. After than everything was a breeze. I strongly recommend Ikea to update their manuals or provide a separate leaflet with detailed instructions on how to set up the Bluetooth functionality as this should be seen as one of the best-selling features and a function many people will look for in a sit/stand desk and adore. Also adding a Bluetooth icon next to IDASEN desk models on your website will make this desk stand out! I do not regret that I was not able to get Uplift desk as originally planned as finding that the motors used in Ikea desk is Linpak, Denmark which has far superior reviews that those made by Jiechang. The desk also has a solid 10-year warranty and well under my budget. I would have given this desk a 10-star rating if able to!5
Screw hole on the board is misaligned by 2cmMyFirstIkeaReviewI needed a sit/stand desk and this one looked like a compromise between price and quality/style. The assembly was a nightmare because of misaligned screw holes on the metal pieces and finally on the board. The screw holes are misaligned by 2cm. I had to drill new holes on the board. (With power drill purchased in Ikea as well before, whose drill bits broke into 2 pieces. I had to use one good half that's left.) Good luck assembling this piece of garbage. I think the designer of this piece should assemble it (following their own manual) to see if things really work.1
On my third replacementEmilationsPros: great looking desk that blends in perfectly in a living room as a dining room table. The desk is sturdy and does not wobble or dance at its highest level. Cons: Only up and down control with no easy acceleration feature. No position memory feature meaning you would have to keep you hand on the controller until the table reaches your desired height. The motors are also on the weaker side. Initial purchase: The motor mechanism was grinding at the lowest height setting. I decide to replace the mechanism after 8 months of the initial purchase. Replacement #1: The second replaced by warranty had weak motors. The motors now make a weak winding noise as if the table is too heavy for the motors. I would describe the motor function as if they were low on battery. The desk still made a grinding noise but now at the top. I though I might have had gotten a defective unit. So I go back to IKEA for another replacement. Replacement #2: The third unit was also weak in terms of power. The initial unit was much stronger and did not make a winding noise when commanding the desk upwards. Might there be a defective batch of standing desks? The ones at the showroom do not also have this issue. Issue best described as if the empty desk already had 70kg of weight on it. I will ask for a replacement once again in a couple of month to rule out batch related issues. Service: The service at IKEA was excellent. The accommodation of both agents at the counter was effective and professional. The waiting in line for both service were around an hour each.2
Excellent sit-stand deskLCanadaVery solid, smooth motors, easy to assemble, works perfectly. I live in a small apartment, so I put a custom top on it and use it in the kitchen as a counter (tall height) and kitchen table (lower height). Looks good, works perfectly. No problem to use it as a counter top including for chopping and food prep. (The standard top that comes with it is definitely more suited to office use than kitchen.) It's a big price tag and I don't know how the quality compares to similar products at lower price points, but I'm happy with the purchase. Since I will be changing the height frequently, I am really glad to have the motorized version compared to the hand crank, and this model was more sturdy than the other motorized Bekant. If you want to put a custom top like I did, it was fairly easy. I bought the Gerton which is more of a butcher-block style and then just drilled my own holes and screwed it on.5
Good sit/stand deskMtWiGreat desk but difference between desk with/without motor is too big. Good looking and modern desk. The motor and switch works very well.4
Rock solid with smooth Linpak motorsAnonymous reviewerI got the smaller Idasen and it's still huge. It was simple to assemble, does not wobble at all, and operates smoothly and quietly. The motors are made by Linpak in Denmark. Linpak products have a better reputation than those made by JieCang Linear Motion in China, which I believe are usually what you get in the sub-$1000 standing desk space, so I was pleased to see that detail. This desk has a full ten year warranty, which is why I bought it without many reviews.5
AashVery good and solid desk.5
