The best way to extend the life of your umbrella is by cleaning it regularly, protecting it with a cover whenever not in use and storing it in a cool, dry place indoors when the season is over.
Machine wash warm, normal cycle.
Do not bleach.
Tumble dry, low, normal cycle.
Iron low.
Do not dry clean.
Wipe clean with a mild soapy solution.
Always fold the umbrella when not in use and never use it when it is windy.

no tilt or panJasonSo my error was assuming all cantilever umbrellas could pan to the left or right and that the umbrella itself could tilt. Makes it challenging to actually sit under the shade. I wouldn't recommend this product. It's cheap...which is great, but it doesn't do the job you really want.

Many pros. A couple of cons.LydiaTilt function is fabulous - you can get this umbrella almost vertical which is what I needed. Tilt very easy to use.
Easy setup. Looks great. Seems sturdy.
I only rated this umbrella 4 Stars because when used without the tilt function, the umbrella sways significantly with a minor breeze. The umbrella should have been designed with a tie to secure it to the post to prevent the side-to-side and up-and-down sways.
The other issue is that I'm so far unable to find a cover to fit this umbrella. Ikea, make covers to fit your products!4
