Product details
With this daybed you quickly and easily create space for overnight guests. Just pull out the bed base and you get a double bed in no time.
The large drawers have space for extra duvets, pillows, linens or other things you need to store, but want to have close at hand.
The high frame creates a cozy cocoon feeling, and is lacquered so that it's easy to maintain.
With some soft, fluffy pillows as back support, you easily transform this day-bed into a comfortable sofa.
You will get all-over support and comfort with the resilient foam mattress.
Good to know
The daybed must be combined with two twin mattresses. They are placed on top of each other when you use the daybed as a single bed, and next to each other when you use it as a double bed.

Slatted bed base is included.
2 ÅSVANG foam mattresses included.
The day-bed is not to be used as two single beds, it should only be used as a double bed when the bed base is pulled out.

Mattresses don't match!NicoleI will preface this review with the comment that the day bed frame seems great, and everything else is okay so far. However, the daybed set came with 2x VANNAREID Twin ( 97 × 189 × 12 cm) mattresses. The two mattresses are the same model but have different weights labelled on the packaging, and different spec tags. One mattress came labelled as 16.0 kg, and the other came as 17.77 kg. The actual difference when weighed was 2.9 kg. The lighter mattress doesn't seem like it fills the shell. It is obviously a substandard product. If you ever get this day bed or the VANNAREID Twin mattress, make sure you check the mattress weight if it seems flimsy!

DaybedAliceBed was simple enough to put together, I worry about the center area when pulled out as it isn’t very well supported. I am highly disappointed in the mattresses however as they are incredibly thin and uncomfortable. We now need to purchase an additional mattress to be able to sleep comfortably.
Poor quality of mattressSiddharthThe mattresses have a significant compression in less than 3 months of usage. Would not recommend to buy the mattresses. Look at separate options.
Very well designed bedKeithWe bought a Hemnes bed to fill an alcove vacated by a wood stove. We had it delivered to a fairly remote location and that went very well.
Unfortunately assembly wasn't an option so we knew we'd have to do it ourselves. We have assembled lots of other Ikea furniture but read this is a beast to do. Overall it took 5 hours which was less than we expected. We made a couple of mistakes and had to back track and redo. No biggie. There's a YouTube video which at times is very helpful and some of the stages are very counterintuitive and not clear in the instructions. But not too onerous a job and as long as you are prepared for it taking a long time it's fine. It looks lovely when done, makes a decent lounger given enough cushions and pillows. It easily converts to a big bed, though we've not slept on it yet. There were a few minor cracks in the outer frame supports which I have filled with wood glue and painted. Overall we are very pleased with the product.
Great for guestsBernitaI recently purchased the Hemnes daybed. It was fairly easy to put together with a neighbour. She and I took most of the day. We took our time and if we were uncertain we found YouTube videos to assist us. I purchased the medium density mattresses from Ikea. The firm mattresses were too firm and stiff. I slept on it one night and thought it was comfortable. My niece and her partner visited for a week this summer and both said they had a good sleep. I am happy with my purchase

I wasted money on sheets that I can't return because I understood it to be a double size mattress when expanded. My bad, I should have looked into it more. Aside from that, it is comfortable, easy to assemble and looks great!
Perfect when short on spaceDeniseThis bed is perfect when you are short on space or have to sleep in the living room. It easily converts from bed to day bed or couch if you prefer. It fairly easy to put it together but it for sure would be better to have two people to assemble it. I would recommend this bed any day.
