Love my new bedMichealI am very pleased with the ease of set-up and how comfortable it truly is. Beat my expectations and I had high expectations.5
It broke in halfsadly_disappointedI bought this bed almost 2 years ago. It started to break apart by the unions in the pieces that came assembled from the factory. I could not believe this morning when I woke up, heard a horrible sound and all of the sudden the lower part of the bed was on the floor. I panic and I just though my cat was most likely under the bed. Fortunately it was not the case. I understand that the price they offer the beds is crazy cheap, but it's hard to understand how they miss all this security checks. I totally regret that I recently bought the matching nightstands, and off course after almost 2 years there's no warranty for this product. Spare your money and get a solid wooden bed, not cheap but it would not probably break that easily.1
Stylish but breaksRoarkI've had this bed about 4 years. However, about 2 years ago the frame of the foot of the bed cracked horizontally causing the bed to sag right in the middle. I've been keeping it propped up with a stack of books. Recently I decided that I'd like to replace the foot of the bed but could not find the replacement parts. Ikea seems to have used materials that are inappropriate for the function as the wood used is very much too weak.1
Beautiful - loudRhi13I love the look of this bed! It’s gorgeous. However I have had it 3 days. It is SO loud. So squeaky I do not understand why. We were very careful putting it together (which was a breeze by the way!) but every time we move in and out it squeaks and creaks like it’s about to break. It’s very solid at least but it’s unfortunate that a $400 (king) frame is so unpleasant to get in and out of.3
Headboard top railingHeadboard issueI bought about a month ago. While putting together the top rail has bubbles where the holes are located for the dowels. That is disappointing and curious if we can get a new top rail to the headboard.3
Loud, Squeaky and AnnoyingTylerSHad this bed for 3 or 4 years now, and ive had to tighten all the screws nearly every month to try and stop it from squeaking. In all my years, I have not had a bed the squeaked THIS much. Regular tossing and turning producing such loud squeaks that it wakes up my partner. Totally unexceptionable even after 3 or 4 years. I have laid tape on the metal, used lock tight on the screws, felt pads, electric tape, everything only lasts a few weeks before it starts squeaking again. Unfortunately, I was told at my local store a while back that there isn't anything they can do and that I would have to try to find a fix on my own.amazing service from such a world wide brand. Hoping to get a reply back from Ikea Support on this matter.2
Beautiful but horribly madeNottohappyI own all Hemnes Furniture and unfortunately they are all poorly made. This bed is so squeaky when my partner moves at night it wakes me up. In addition it has been falling apart since I bought it. I have used wood glue multiple times to keep the material based board together but it keeps falling apart. The material also warped as well over time. I would not recommend buying.1
Love the bed frame!Db2234This is a really nice bed frame. It takes quite a while to put together though. Also I suggest you get the better bed slats.5
Broken in 3 yearsAlisa007I bought the bed for no more than 3 years, it totally broken from the end of the bed. I was so shacked how can a bed been broke? Look Inside of the frame it used simple wood srews to connected this is why it can be broken.1
marussell1959I love the bed but when you get in and out it is noisy3
Below average durabilityNeil38I bought a Hemnes king frame in 2017. It has always been a squeaky bed but not a big issue. Recently the frame has began to come apart between the headboard and the side rails. The threading that connects the headboard is completely stripped. I guess I expected a $300+ bed frame to last longer than 3 years.2
Love the set but disappointed in my bedIkeaGal from HamiltonI got several pieces of Hemnes bedroom furniture for my bedroom a little over a year ago, and one side of the footboard has separated from the frame and is now resting on the separately-purchased storage drawers underneath. I’ve tried twice to fix it and it won’t budge. I’m pretty disappointed that the quality is so poor!2
Poor Quality & Poor DesignTori PDO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT We purchased the king size Hemnes in white in April 2018 - over time the foot board (that comes pre-assembled from IKEA) started to develop gaps that became larger and larger eventually culminating with the foot board completely breaking apart and us landing on the floor in the middle of the night. This is completely unacceptable and evidently a VERY common issue based on other reviews listed here.1
Squeaky and noisy from day one - eventually brokeBrothers split by secretsWe updated our bedroom with the Hemnes series bed, dresser and nightstands. Unfortunately, the first order delivery damaged the footboard. The packaging did not protect the bed. IKEA sent a replacement bed, and again it was damaged in transport. The third one was sent out with special bubble wrap on the box. At this point it was after 2 months of renovating the bedroom, and we just wanted to be done with it. The footboard had a small crack in it, but we decided not to send it back. Once we assembled the bed according to the instructions, it squeaked every time someone got in or out of the bed. It squeaked and creaked anytime we rolled over or moved in our sleep. Finally, last week the bed gave out and the small crack in the footboard split, and the entire base of the bed broke. It only had some wood glue and dowels to keep it together, and wasn't made of wood, but wood fiber.1
Great product for the priceHarrisCNot nearly as bad as other reviews made it out to be. Bought 3 of these in full size for my kids for Christmas. Not too difficult to assemble. Tried them out myself. I am 6' tall and quite hefty; no complaints.4
Make sure you are using an IKEA bed basejmbulletI've had this bed for 6 years now. During that period, I moved 4 times and it has held up surprisingly well. The only problem I had with it was that the box-spring that matched my non-IKEA mattress was too narrow for the frame and it ended up falling off the support rails and bending the corner braces, but after replacing the corner braces (which IKEA shipped to me for free) and replacing my box-spring with a Lönset slatted bed base, it is perfect again. I highly recommend it.4
Cute but fragileAmp0529I was super happy when I bought this, but then a year later the frame completely broke off the left side of head board. Extremely disappointed as I did really enjoy it prior, and it broke out of no where. I am extremely careful and gentle on my furniture.2
Excellent Bed FramecarliesoaresHave had this bed frame for almost 2 weeks and I love it! I was skeptical because of the reviews but I'm so happy I got it. It makes very minimal noise and had a good solid structure. Would highly recommend to anyone!5
Nice looking bed~but VERY squeaky and creaky...Erin83We bought this bed close to 5 years ago... Not sure why I haven't posted a review until now. We cannot move around in our bed without it creaking and squeaking A LOT, to the point of waking the other up! This started about a year after we purchased. My parents also purchased this bed for their holiday home and it is NOT like ours. It is quiet!! Not sure what we can do to fix the creaks & squeaks, we have tried tightening screws, adjusting the bar etc and nothing has helped.3
This bed only lasts a few yearsBrianAKI bought this bed and about a year after the purchase the foot board started to sag in the middle and eventually fell apart. This caused the box spring and mattress to fall through the frame as the side rails were now not aligned. There is a significant design flaw in the king size where there needs to be a third leg supporting the foot board. The quality of this best is very disappointing because the look and colour (grey) are great.1
