Ratings and reviews

Good but not greatJeremyAs others have mentioned below, the doors do not align 100% which diminishes the appearance. Magnetic latch failed on day 1 for one of the doors3
Misaligned Doors TaylorAfter building this for an hour, we ended with a disappointing result - the doors are misaligned and the whole unit is flimsy & cheap. It already has wear on the white coating just from building it and it arrived damaged (chipped on the top board). Very disappointed for the price paid how cheap and frankly ugly this piece of furniture is when built. The door mechanism is faulty and the doors do not open easily. All in all, such a cheap item and disappointing to purchase this from IKEA. 1
Worst ikea productAnonymous reviewerI’ve put together an ikea product together a time or two and never have much of an issue. These are just absolutely terrible. They do not go together. It is so difficult to get the backplate and the forth side in at the same time and if you do - too bad - your doors will never line up. Do not waste your time or money. They look great in the store but you will never get them like that at home. The siding also chips like crazy.1
Worst Ikea product I have purchased LindsayAll the poor reviews are very true. Would say this is the worst item I’ve purchased from ikea in terms of assembling and also quality. Bought 2 and had to damage both to get the 4th panel on and the doors do not sit flush. The panels are very easy to scratch and chip, I had this happen during assembling. Disappointing purchase! 1
Great EKET CabinetHomayonPractical Useful EKET Cabinet with 2 doors and shelf, white,4
Horrible Anonymous reviewerImpossible to put this thing together and so poorly made. One of the magnetic push door mechanisms simply doesn’t work. The backer board is impossible to install because of the way the four frames lock into one another. I had to damage it to get it in. I spent longer building these two ridiculous cabinets than 4 Billy bookcases that were anchored to a concrete wall. One of the doors is also crooked with no way to fix. I should have trusted the other reviewers! IKEA has gone downhill. Exorbitant prices and terrible quality. 1
DisappointedNinaBack part of the cabinet is flimsy, sides are difficult to put together because they slide into eachother and the front doors do not align properly, opening mechanism is also faulty 1
Not worth the price StephanieNothing lines up properly. 1
What a waste of money and time!JasminBought this unit, took it home to assemble. Noticed that the pieces listed in the instructions did not look like the ones I had in front of me, assembled it to the best of my ability only to not be able to fully assemble it due to the incorrect pieces in the box. Took it back, they exchanged it for me. Got the second one home thinking its a one off error...NOPE same issue with second unit. The pieces in the box are not the right ones. There is no way to attach the doors with the pieces in the box. Now I have to do the 45 minute drive a SECOND time to return this one. What a waste of time and money!1
Defective pieces, no time to replaceAnonymous reviewerI bought this cabinet and built it and there's defective parts so I wasn't able to install one of the two doors and it's still not fully installed after 3 weeks of having it because I don't have time to go back to ikea to get the pieces. And the pieces that help pop open the doors don't work properly either. So it's really frustrating having this cabinet and it looks broken. There should be an easy way to get the defective parts replaced and sent by mail or something to save me the trip to the store.1
Worst Door MechanisumParthThe door lock is not working I had to put a knob to open the doors, the magnetic coil is not working, worst purchase yet from IKEA.1
Horrible DoorsStephanieWe purchased these knowing there may be some issues with the doors from prior reviews. The doors do not line up at all, and there is nothing you can do to make them square.2
Good price but difficult to assembleSanghamitraVery difficult to assemble. Price is good but it's a two person job to assemble.2
Easy install but..LisaI bought 6 of these for shoe storage and putting the pieces together was very easy however the cabinet doors have a shaped gap between them despite how I adjust the doors.4
Good value for your money.ReynaldoGood value for your money.5
AwfulStephanieThese cabinets are very cheaply made. They cannot hold very much and ultimately, I've had to return them because I could not make them work for my home office.1
not worth itMarieThe cabinet itself wasn't too bad to assemble. mounting to the wall went well. But the doors! the awful doors!! What a pain to set up. We bought 4 cabinets (2 with double doors) and it was nearly impossible to adjust the doors. It was all crooked or they did not close. the hinges to help them adust were very stiff and were very hard to manipulate. No matter how we adjusted them (which we did for over and hour) none of them were fitting evenly . We just gave up because it looked aweful with the gaps and crooked doors. Removing the door was a greater challenge. They don't make it easy to adjust or remove the door. Would not recommend the double doors cabinet. The single-door one was fine because we didn't need the door to match another one. We ended up returning the cabinets for a store credit. very disappointed.2
Very goodLinoVery good5
Difficult to assembleAmyLooks cute, and light to move around the room. There is a design flaw or imperfection where some EKET pieces are easy to put together, and others are not. This one was quite tricky because once the thin wood backing is in, it gets in the way of the last side piece. I could either assemble it without the backing, or get the backing in and not have a side. A bit of a weird chicken / egg situation that took a lot of trial and error, which caused the side piece to break. My husband is a woodworker and helped me saw off the corners of the thin backing to help it come together. It's probably a bit fragile after so much wiggling / slight breakage, but it's ok as I'm using it inside a closet for light items. I would not recommend this if you are using for a high traffic area with heavy items.3
I bought this item fromJoanneI bought this item from the Circular Hub at the Etobicoke store. The price was excellent and this item was light enough for me to carry into my house. Im using it as storage in my hallway closet and it suits my needs.5

EKET Cabinet with 2 doors and shelf, white, 27 1/2x13 3/4x27 1/2 "

From grandfather's fishing boxes to playful storage

When product developer Petra Kammari Enarsson was a young student and often moved, she used to furnish her apartments with old fishing boxes given to her by her grandfather who lived on the west coast of Sweden. Years later, when Petra was developing the new EKET storage series, those boxes came to mind. How could she make the series as flexible as the boxes?

New technologies, new hobbies, a new family member ... both small and large changes affect life and people's needs at home, especially when it comes to all the things that we need space for. Petra Kammari Enarsson is a product developer at IKEA and often visits the homes of customers to experience their everyday living and how good storage can make life at home a little easier. She remembers a family in Copenhagen which expanded every other weekend with the daughter from a previous relationship. ”She didn't have her own room, but the family had a solution where she had a loft bed in the living room and her private things were in a chest on the floor”. Petra thinks it's a good example of how more and more people are living in small spaces, and that a large part of everyday living takes places in the living room where we want things to be both practical and stylish.

Flexible furniture for new needs

Another obvious trend around the world is that many people move more often - just as Petra did when she was young. ”The problem is that a lot of storage furniture is so inflexible – upon moving or new needs arising, they can't be adapted. This means storage isn't optimal and it's difficult to keep track of all your things”. These insights inspired Petra and her colleagues to start looking at a more flexible and personal storage solution – something that can easily be updated so that people don't have to buy new furniture as soon as something in life changes. Petra then started to think about those fishing boxes she had when she was young and which were so easy to stack and move as needed. What if you could make a piece of furniture which consists of various smart modules that can be easily moved around, removed and added to?

Building with blocks

Petra and her team started by ordering cardboard boxes in various sizes. They took the boxes to different room environments where they moved them around like building blocks – stacking and combining them in various ways. The team also researched detailed facts about storage: on average, how many magazines do we have at home? What’s the ideal height for people to put down their mobile phones? ”Many of us put keys, telephones or bags in a specific place when we come home. We usually do it automatically, without thinking about it”, says Petra. The height that seems to suit most people is 31½", so a shelf at that height was a given in the mix of shelves, drawers and cabinets in different colors and styles that eventually became the EKET storage series. ”I'm so pleased that we chose to prioritize playfulness and freedom of choice with all the colors and sizes of EKET”, says Petra, who's looking forward to visiting more homes. ”I think that the customers will find lots of exciting combinations that we haven't even thought of!”.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
