    Care

    Wipe clean with a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild dish detergent or soap, if necessary.

    Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

    Even though laminate is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the countertop without a trivet or pot stand.

    Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two countertops because the heat can damage the seam.

    Always use a chopping board, never cut directly on the countertop with a knife. Never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the countertop as it can scratch the surface.

    To prevent permanent stains on the countertop, wipe clean spills or messes immediately with a soft cloth dampened in water and a mild washing-up detergent or soap.

    Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface.

    Countertops in laminate or thick veneer that are installed above a dishwasher or oven must be protected on the underside with FENSJÖ diffusion barrier.

Do not buyCoryRedesigned our entire kitchen in ikea about 4 years ago! My ikea kitchen porcelain sink cracked and it’s discontinued and no other sink on the market is the same size! Ordered a new sink and another counter top! This counter is not the same as the product sold under the same name 4 years ago! My original counter was sturdy and stain resistant, the new counter has a slightly different design, different colour and a completely different feel! Feels like paper! Now I have to redo all my existing counters to match (will use a different product) am extremely disappointed there is no mention in the description that the product has changed! (On top of it I live 8 hours from the closest ikea) do better IKEA! (Picture shows new and old product side by side)1

Terrible Surface Finish Anonymous reviewerIt feels like paper, no protective coating. Even pencil mark can't be completely remove what a joke. It seems pencil can scratch it and when I wipe it with damp cloth now water and graphites seep through and stuck there.1

DON’T BUY THIS COUNTERTOPReileyWe purchased this counter around December 2025. We expected a traditional laminate top, but this product has a matte laminate finish which resembles paper more than laminate. It absorbs almost everything, and is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean. Pasta sauce? Forget about it. Turmeric? Good luck! We’re incredibly unhappy with the finish and I’m not sure how or why IKEA actually sells this? Where was the QA testing on this? Final thoughts are DO NOT BUY THIS COUNTERTOP, you will regret it.1
Nice retro style counter topChrisWe cut this in half lengthwise and did a shallow bank of cabinets in our 70’s style basement. It turned out awesome and we love it!5
Don’t adviseKrystalWe renovated our kitchen and I’ve only had these counter tops for two weeks and I can’t stand them. I like the look and pattern of them. But the texture is terrible hard to keep clean everything leaves a mark your cutting board, moving your toaster, a cup, moving the coffee maker and it’s hard to get off. The texture of this counter top is terrible, it’s like there is no finish on top feels so grainy. I’m already looking at replacing them. Spend the extra money on good counter tops. Don’t use this. 1
Countertop looks like PaperMichelleWe designed our kitchen online so we made the mistake of not checking the countertop before buying. We thought there was protective paper (even our contractor thought this) and when we realised that we cannot remove it after installation, to our dismay it was the finished product. Our contractor even said that he has installed many IKEA kitchens and has never seen such a strange finish. It literally is like a piece of paper is glued to the top of the counter. It's awful. We regret this purchase.1
Big DisappointmentGillianWe've purchased IKEA kitchens and countertops before but this is a huge disappointment. There were marks which appeared on the countertops after installation which couldn't be seen before . They looked like clamps possibly from the manufacturing process. I hoped they would clean off. We couldn't stop as we needed countertops installed. They are inpossible to clean off and the countertops themselves are impossible to clean due to the texture. Even after cleaning there are marks all over them. Don't get any oil on them because that doesn't come off with cleaning. The edging strips are terrible because they are very thisk and very tough. Can't be trimmed with a laminate trimmer and are so tough they are hard to trim with a file as per instructions. These are a huge waste of money and effort. I should have used the old countertops.1
Why isn’t the edgebanding iron-on anymore?MagsCountertop is good and all but the extra edge provided does NOT come with adhesive anymore, very tiny print in the instructions say you have to provide your own and doesn’t even specify the type needed. Very inconvenient and clearly a cost cutting measure at the expense and trouble of the end user.3

Marks Appear After CleaningVeroniqueI purchased three panels, and all of them had defects. The edge bands were placed directly on the black surface (finished side) inside the box, which left visible marks. These marks appear when the countertop is cleaned with water, then disappear once dry. It would have been better if the bands were placed face down in the packaging, so the marks would end up on the unfinished side (under the countertop). Additionally, the top and bottom of each panel show a one-inch-wide line across the entire width, likely caused during the factory cutting process. These marks also become visible after cleaning and affect the appearance of the finished side. I chose the black color, but I preferred the previous Ekbacken model, which had a wood grain effect that looked more refined.2
WAITINGMichaelAnd waiting and waiting with an incomplete kitchen. Its been months. Still waiting for a bunch of pieces. Hey IKEA! How longs do I need to live with an incomplete kitchen? This is unacceptable and I cannot recommend anyone shop with IKEA when you need your home back in functional condition. Very disappointed.1
Low qualityCassandraWe purchased this countertop in 2023 and recently purchased and as we were happy with our purchase in 2023 but the quality has significantly decreased. As another review stated it does feels scratchy and it stains/scratches easily. We will be purchasing else where for better quality.1

If I could give it ZERO stars I would! AshleyPurchased 3 of these for our kitchen and they are VERY textured. They do not clean well at all. Water drops leave marks. Anything with colour leaves stains. It’s not shiny and easy to clean as they claim. It feels & looks like matte paper. With home delivery it costs us $600 for 3 pieces. Completely wasted money. DO NOT recommend! 1
