Product details

25-year Limited Warranty. Read about the terms in the Limited Warranty brochure.

Laminate countertops are very durable and easy to maintain. With a little care, they stay like new for many years.

You can cut the countertop to the length you want and cover the edges with the 2 included edging strips.

The thinner countertop with straight edging strip works perfectly in a modern style kitchen.

Create a perfectly coordinated look by combining this countertop with a matching wall panel.

Ekbacken CountertopSUSANPerfect addition for our wall unit. Easy to cut and comes with strips to glue on the sides for a complete look.5
very disappointingTheresa M.Obviously colour isn't a guarantee when shopping online, but the pattern is pale, muddy, with almost a greenish hue. No where near as rich or warm brown as in the pictures. The surface is practically matte, and it scratched while being installed when a cordless drill was set down in it. Not durable at all. I didn't expect much at this price point, but this is NOT the quality I expected from Ikea. Spend a bit more and get real Formica. This is NOT your grannies laminate countertop, it's terrible, and I seriously regret not sucking it up and getting the real wood, even if that isn't solid anymore.2

Absolutely Awful ProductAllyce H.We ordered these countertops for our new kitchen as the reviews were positive and the price was great and they were exactly what we were looking for. Well, once installed (which was no problem) they looked great. After a couple days of very light use - they leave marks that don’t wash off. So no matter how much I clear and wash with soap and warm water, they constantly look dirty and the matte finish just really enhances that. It’s so disappointing because even though the price is right and the counters are exactly what we wanted we will have to replace them because they look absolutely awful and makes my brand new kitchen that we just built look filthy.1

Particle backing tears when installing.MATT J.The top surface quality of this board actually impressed me when I unwrapped it, and was glad to set it on my cupboards and see my kitchen coming together. However, I faced two issues when trying to install. The documentation with this countertop did not include instructions for my corner cabinet that calls for using washers. Nowhere in the instructions do they do they show the long corner cabinet, nor the washers ever being used. Secondly and far worse, after predrilling a 3/8" deep hole with a 1/8" drill bit, I installed the screw without a washer, and it was apparent it wouldn't hold. I unscrewed the screw. When I went back to use a screw with a washer it still wouldn't hold and dropped out. When I removed the countertop to look at the base, the particle board underneath had torn outward. At no point did I force or pull out the screws. No excessive force used at all. Now I have a cut countertop, with sink cut and sealed, and no way to secure it to the cabinets.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What are foil and laminate?

Some wood materials need protection with a durable and easy-care foil or laminate surface. The choice depends on the end use and desired finish. We often use paper foil for storage furniture, while plastic foil suits demanding areas like kitchens and bathrooms. Today, the plastic we use is mostly recycled and our goal is to use plastic from renewable sources. Laminate is made of resin-impregnated paper, which adds a durable and moisture-resistant surface for countertops.

Quality

Built and tested to last

We believe that our kitchen countertops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our countertops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it with our 25 year limited warranty.
