Good hub good price PaulI bought this to automate the blinds we bought from IKEA. It works flawlessly. And was quite easy to set up. 4
Always utterly slow to connect, when it does, compared to every other IoTAlexandreI'm using this with an air quality sensor, a remote, a dozen window & door sensors, half a dozen bulbs and water leak sensors.
The initial setup was ok and worked for a while.
But now, even though I receive notifications, I can't connect to the hub and even after re-adding it locally, the remote access is failing and the local one is horribly unreliable.
I'm a network professional and every other services work (Unifi, Hilo, Robot Vacuums, etc.) within 2 seconds.
Meanwhile, Dirigera, when it works, takes over 10 seconds to even show the tiles.
With door and window sensors or water leak sensors, which are security measures, it's unacceptable to have something stop working out of the blue like this.
Also full support still lacking for Matter.
Very disappointed as it was alright and functional for a few months but now is acting up even after reboot, firmware updates and re-joining it.
And I don't think a full reset and re-adding 2 dozens devices is a solution respectful of my time!3
Works with Tredansen / Alexa but not well with IKEA remotesPeterThe Tredansen blinds can connect with only one device, so you can pair them with the remote button provided, or the Digirea hub. However, if you pair the Tredansen blinds and the remotes with Dirigera, the remotes become erratic. You really want to be able to open and close blinds with a button within reach, and not be totally reliant on the IKEA app or Alexa to operate them.
Amazon Alexa works fine with the Dirigera hub.
I think the Dirigera hub is a work in progress and not ready for prime time.2
Works for my purposes (lighting) but was challenging to set upMarshallI bought this in Mar 2025 to replace an older Tradfri gateway that I was using to control lighting in multiple rooms. The Tradfri worked perfectly but I wanted to add some other Smart Home products that the Tradfri cannot work with.
Dirigera was easy to install but I found the product pairing instructions confusing. After viewing a few instructional videos online, I was able to connect my lighting products reasonably quickly.
So far I have used Dirigera to control older Tradfri colour-changing bulbs and remote switches in multiple rooms using IKEA's Home Smart app on iPhone. Dirigera works well for that. The only drawback I've experienced is using the older Tradfri remote switches, which dim and brighten the lights in increments instead of the smooth transition produced using the Tradfri gateway. Perhaps that would not occur if I replaced the switches with newer Styrbar switches.
I deducted one star from my rating because of the challenging set-up and incremental dimming.4
Partially works with 3rd party Zigbee; Matter/Home Assistant users beware!BrianFor those that are using third party Zigbee devices (looking at you, Home Assistant users), beware: your third party devices are NOT available via Matter integration. This really stings, as I bought this to replace a Sonoff device, and now I can't use most of my motion sensors.
I'm hoping this is a software thing and Ikea can fix this. I sincerely hope this was a case of "this was a missed requirement" and not "we're actively going to suppress Matter support for third party devices". Please add this, Ikea! Until that's supported, I wouldn't recommend this to those deep into home automation.
While not directly related to the device itself, a minor nitpick on the Home Smart app: the motion sensors don't show if they've detected motion in the app. It'd be nice to see the status to confirm they're working.
For the price, it'd be nice if this had PoE support. It's a bit pricey, but if it doesn't stop working randomly in 2 years then I'm willing to pay for quality. 3
Seems to workRobertWhy do we need yet another proprietary gateway? I already had a houseful of Alexa-enabled devices. It took a lot of trail an error to get this thing setup to connect our kitchen lights to Alexa. Not sure it was worth the effort.3
Awesome!ChrisAwesome!5
Good but not so good.MarcLove the product. The problem is that I can only control the setting at home within wifi range. Cannot monitor or change outside of the house.5
Useful hub for IKEA's smartBrandonUseful hub for IKEA's smart devices4
Very happy with this device!AliIt allows us to check our air quality sensors from our phones and to control our air purifier remotely as well. It has other functions that we don't yet take advantage of but it is really nice.5
Too complicated to setup and requires Ethernet connectionPierreThis requires an Ethernet connection to the router and it is not feasible in our home. We're in 2023, it should connect via WiFi instead and makes everybody happy.
Also, configuration is not for a beginner ... You could do better Ikea.1
Very good productFredEvery thing went well after some guess work but does work very good and stable. Ikea should put a full demo together for this as it can be a tad frustrating setting up but does work when done sequentially.
I ask that some firmware upgrades support remote access and matter updates power consumption would also be a game changer.4
It has potential...MarkThe DIRIGERA Hub is a step up from the often maligned Trådfri Hub... in theory. Installation was straight forward. Configuration into Apple's HomeKit was also straight forward... but...
After a power failure, and things were up and running, things were not well. The DIRIGERA Hub was up, the Trådfri drivers were alive, and the LED lights connected were on again.
But, the communication between the Dirigera Hub and the HomeKit Home Hub was broken. Automations did not run on the IKEA side. Eventually I had to manually reboot the Dirigera Hub.
I would suspect that the Dirigera Hub booted up before other parts of the HomeKit environment were ready... and Dirigera never bothered to either wait or try again.
The programmers need to release updated firmware in the IKEA components to make everything work properly and fully, like other manufacturer's do with their products.1
Great buy! You are buying convenience!ItxelGreat buy! You are buying convenience!
Physical set up was straightforward.
Digital set up was challenging when connecting the Dirigera with the smart bulbs that were already installed and set up; the bulbs reconfigured themselves and so, everything had to be done from scratch, again.
Detail note: our Google Home is configured to respond to our commands to light up lamps, and does so seamlessly (most of the time).
Limitation note: it is not possible to turn on lamps remotely; to turn on our configured lamps, the user has to be using the household wifi.4
Wish you would have theDavidWish you would have the 10" plates available. This design is quite popular and each time I look to purchase many pieces are out of stock. I now simply need the 10" plates.
I am on a waiting list.5
cool thing, just too priceyLawrenceif the price could go down, that will be perfect4
working as expected but aEmilyworking as expected but a bit too pricey5
Great hub for smart lightingShawnWorks great for smart lighting. I do wish the remotes for the smart lights connect to the hub and not to the lights directly, but I don’t know if that is something to be expected5
Excellent product! Easy to installLilibethExcellent product! Easy to install and use!5
A good start to a revised smart home hubBradI own the previous Tradfri gateway and only used it to update the firmware of my Tradfri lightbulbs, buttons, and outlets.
Even though I also have SmartThings, Hubitat, and Home Assistant running in my home, I've kept the new Dirigera hub running alongside my other systems, and have integrated it with Home Assistant.
From a technical standpoint, the Dirigera is far far superior to the previous Tradfri gateway.
It starts up faster than the previous gateway, connecting devices to it is definitely faster and much more straightforward than the previous system.
It integrates easily with Alexa, and I've added it to Home Assistant as a HomeKit Controller.
All of that is working great.
The Dirigera hub and associated Home Smart app were only released in the last week or so, but it would have been better if the functionality supported by the old system was available in the new system.
Automation options available through the new Ikea Home Smart app are very basic and some functionality that the previous gateway and app had is missing, such as being able to assign a double-press action to the shortcut button.
The future prospects for this product are great though, with the planned Matter upgrades to come later on.
Looking forward to seeing how it progresses as updates are rolled out for it.4
