Should not be sold as a bookcase. Extremely poor quality.AnonymousI have had 2 of these bookshelves for a few years now. Very soon after the purchase I noticed the outward bowing of the vertical sides, although shelves were never overloaded. Yes I keep books on them, it is marketed and sold as a bookcase. But I never went over weight capacity per shelf. Yes, both units are secured to the wall. As of now, the shelves are finally falling out, the vertical bowing is that bad. Also, the shelf support pins are an absolute joke.
Do yourself a favour and save yourself a headache down the road and skip this embarrassingly low quality item. It's probably my worst and most regretted ever IKEA purchase.
Bought 3 created a wall of storage!AlexI had used the online room builder to picture three of these up against a wall. I am impressed with the amount of storage space and organization that I have gained in my small 8x9 office. These units are all side by side and many have commented about how I have a very impressive wall unit behind me while on calls. When I was thinking of purchasing this, it was key to know how tall the units are, as I don't have a consistent ceiling height due to HVAC structures. After looking at this in the room builder I made the decision and I look back and can't be happier about the end result. Shelf strength and adjustability was another consideration, and the unit is holding up really well with the weight of books that I have on it as well as other display items and bookshelf speakers.

We bought this due to a leak in the basement and needed to have everything entertainment on one floor. Best decision we made. The unit looks so beautiful. Well made and when put together it’s perfect!!the drawers are deep and big enough for misc and the shelves fit the photo albums. My dad is also on the other shelf where he can be with us. Quality is great and has stood the test of my cats. One likes to walk the top but soon won’t be able too. Warm and welcoming and I have got compliments already!! I had no problem putting them together but I am a hands on person and for me I love putting my ikea items together. This whole unit is perfect and I’m very pleased. We are all. Great investment.

1. Hinges and board needs to improve quality and strength
2. Should have a little bit more width
3. The drawer channels needs to improve in quality to handle daily wear and tear
4. The boards are weak and needs care during installation.
5. Installation is time taking due to too many screws and at times is confusing

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
