Motor/electrical failureABrown7I just purchased this desk yesterday and hubby spent 1.5 hours assembling it and it does not go up! Hubby called customer service today and spent almost 2 hours waiting on hold. Then he was told to bring it back for a exchange. I paid 50 dollars for desk to be delivered so I can avoid having to drive to the store. De-assembling this desk is another huge undertaking. And who can guarantee that the replacement desk will actually work? based on the reviews here and other website, this is a very poorly designed defective product and I don’t understand why this is not discontinued after so many loyal customers have been disappointed and inconvenienced. I was so looking forward to having this desk but wish I never bought it.1
Perfect adjustable deskEannb56Exactly perfect for working from home. Being able to adjust the height of the desk is invaluable. Just the right size.5
Motor doesn"t lastLimonanaIt has been just a little over a year since I got this new desk, the motor stopped working for good and I am not sure how I am supposed to get the warranty since I discarded the receipt a bit ago thinking that this desk could last me longer.1
WpgSteveThe product was the perfect fit for my home office and the white color looks modern and classy5
cracked desktop & too small mesh coverbirdnerdI just bought and assembled this desk, and I'm so disappointed with it. Although the assembly was mostly easy, I ran into two issues. When installing the mesh cover for cords, I discovered it to was too small to over the whole area and I was unable to use more than 4/6 pegs for holding it in place. Second, while using a hammer to put the pegs in (which is what the directions show), the desktop crashed in two locations.1
Excellent deskCatMcPatI love how low I can make this desk and of course that I can use it standing as well. The desk is solid yet it moves up and down easily and it looks amazing in my space. Great value.5
great product, with small concernsmijtakuko_just finished assembly on the desk... the product has had a small updates vs previous year's product. the metal bars that attached to the desk used to be attached by those small grey push in tabs. Now is a black tab and to be screwed in middle and with two more screws fastening the bar in place (supposed to add stability?) the desk wiggles slightly forward and back, but feels sturdy to put arms and weight on desk edge while standing. However, I am on carpet so it's expected to wiggle slightly. and very little movement side to side the cable mesh was actually the most difficult part to do... either the holes for the grey tabs are pre-drilled too far apart, or the mesh itself does not stretch as much as it should. it's extremely difficult to stretch mesh wide enough for both corners on both sides. Now that it's forcibly stretched, I worry that it might be too taut and may snap in the future.4
Perfect Desk for Home UseHappy to WFHBought this a month ago and I am so pleased with the sit/stand desk. I wanted a desk that I could also stand at and do a few exercises while working.5
My home office deskKottbularI bought this 3 weeks ago. I needed a table that will allow me to stand from time to time while working and I am glad that I chose this product.5
great idea, but motor is flawedcarmaluI bought this because I am in a wheelchair, and most desks are just not the right height. I WAS great. Being able to make even little adjustments throughout the day was really helpful. One day it didn't move...at all...no warning, just stopped working. Weeks later, I had an able bodied friend look to see if perhaps a cord was disconnected. No. I called Ikea, and got it disassembled to bring back. A major undertaking. Ikea replaced the motor. A few months later it happened again. It is now well over a year since the purchase, and I have a very expensive NON adjustable desk. I would not recommend the motorized version of the Bekant sit/stand desk. The majority of the purchase price is for the motor, and it has proven to not be dependable.1
Perfect deskbibs41The standing to sitting movement is seamless... I totally love this desk and have been using it for over 3 years now.5
fafa97Just as i expected. love it!5
Exactly what I neededHomeRenoUnderwayBought this desk due to a hip injury where sitting at one level for a long time causes pain. I set a timer on my phone to remind me to stand, then just bring it up 18 and work standing for a while, then put it back down. Also, great for my husband who is 6'4 and Im 5'7, we can now share a desk space that doesn't fit only one or the other. It was one of the easiest Ikea items to assemble, no problem with motor (very quiet).5
Great desk - lots of challenges with the electrichmcqI ordered this desk before Christmas and the first time i received the package the desk did not work - th legs were clearly damaged and only one leg went up and wouldn't go down. Ikea was great for support and sent replacement parts. The new legs and power cords arrived last week and the desk was fantastic for 5 days. After 5 days the power function has stopped working and the desk wont go up or down. Will have to call back to investigate and maybe get replacement parts again. I really want to love this desk and it is everything that i wanted......if it worked properly.2

Ideas that work for the office

Today, there are as many ways of working as there are job titles. Some of us share a desk with colleagues, and some use the local coffee shop or the kitchen table at home as headquarters. No matter where or how you work, or what time of day (or night) you do it, it helps to have a flexible workspace. With furniture that adapts to your needs and not the other way around.

To work standing up

Good ideas thrive where the unusual is business as usual. So surprise your body with movement now and then – even if you’re super-concentrated on something for a long time. When you shift position, your blood circulation increases. It makes it easier to relax your back, neck and shoulders. With a height-adjustable desk, it’s easy to vary your work position. It can do wonders for your creativity and focus, and even be a good substitute for that extra cup of coffee.

Make 1+1 become 3

Sometimes we need to work on our own – sometimes we want to work together. Or just socialize. When we collaborate, we can share ideas, become inspired and create an environment where both businesses and people can flourish. To meet our changing needs, we need furniture that are as adaptable as we are. That makes it possible to create the workday we need and want.

Storage that takes you places

Storage with casters is easy to get out of the way when you want to turn the workplace into something else. Perhaps shift focus from one task to another, make room for cleaning or less serious stuff? Office supplies fit perfectly in storage with casters. It makes them easy to bring to the desk, the sofa – or wherever it is you prefer to work.

Two for one

Even if you have all your meetings online or out of the office, it can be a good idea to have an extra seat for colleagues or family members that want to stop by. When you’re on your own, you can use it for relaxation after a session by the screen – perhaps by doing a different type of work-task for a while. If you have little space, there are storage units approved to be used as seating as well.

Storage for people on the go

Storage units developed for standing work are handy if you don’t have a need or the space for a big desk. They can be used as presentation-desks, and if you add casters to them, you can easily move them around and rearrange the room in seconds.

Shared storage and shared spaces

Lack of storage seems to be a universal issue – no matter how disciplined you are or what you do for a living. Large storage units are convenient when you’re sharing storage with someone else. They can also be used as room dividers to create individual workspaces without walls or doors.

Hide or show what you’re storing

If you go for closed storage, it will always look nice and tidy no matter what is hidden inside the cabinets. With glass doors, you get an overview of what’s in the cabinets and can protect your stuff from dust. They also give an opportunity to show visitors things you are extra proud of.

To work sitting down

When you feel like working sitting down, choose a chair that adapts to you, not the other way around. Make sure it gives back support, is adjustable and can swivel – allowing for that all-important movement. You want to be able to sit upright and have your monitor at eye height, and your arms and elbows at a 90-degree angle with your hands just above your keyboard. If you need extra support for your lower back, choose a chair that has lumbar support.

Armrests

A chair without armrests provides freedom for natural movement, but a chair with armrests will support the upper part of your forearms, thereby reducing stress on shoulders and back. Make sure the armrests don’t prevent you from drawing the chair close to the desk.

Chairs with casters

If you want a chair that can roll around and is easy to move, make sure it has safety casters. The safety casters make the chair stay in place when you get up from it.

Active seating

Do yourself a favor, change position now and then instead of sitting or standing all day. A sit/stand support doesn’t have any back-support or armrests. It allows for a flexible work position at both desks and high tables. You get a more open posture – good for your circulation and core muscles, and awesome for both body and mind.

Managing the essentials

Cables. We need them, but we don’t want to see them. They’re easy to trip on, and it can be hard to know which one goes where. A cable management solution helps you to organize and hide the cables. It also makes your workstation look less cluttered and cleaning a whole lot easier. There are a several different cable management systems to choose from, see which one that suits you best.

Digital help that works in real life

There are a number of technological aids that can make your working life easier. With NFC (Near Field Communication) you can lock away your things with a card key instead of a regular key. There are also apps that you can use to control some desks. The apps can remind you to move around now and then, so you get a healthier workday. Or automatically set your favorite height if you share a height-adjustable desk with someone else.

Reduce noise pollution

Your ears should feel just as comfortable at work as your back, neck and shoulders. What someone thinks is calming background sound, can be noise to someone else. With soft-closing doors and drawers you can reduce noise pollution. You can also use fabrics, cushions and rugs to dampen sounds, soften echoes and give the office a homier feeling.

Feel at home at work

Apart from having flexible furniture, there are other things you can do to make magic happen at work. Decorate with plants that improve the air quality. Let daylight in – without causing glare. Make sure there’s access to hot drinks and cold water. But above all, challenge truths, try new things and ask for help if you need it. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable at work.
