Very disappointedTracyWe've had our Kivik sofas for just under a year now. After having a Kivik sectional for many years and being very happy with it, it was time to replace it due to normal wear and tear. We decided to replace it with newer versions as well as these covers. Not only is the sofa itself not nearly the quality of our previous Kivik, these covers are awful. They are pilling, losing their shape and look very worn in a short amount of time. We're quite disappointed as we thought we had found a product that we could count on.
Disappointment and dissatisfactionLidiaThe sofa cover looks good but within a few months of use by only one person, pilling began - tiny fuzzy threads on the fabric. I weigh 125 lbs. and there are no pets so I am not sure why this is happening. In reading reviews, there are many others with the same issue. IKEA has not agreed to replace it.
2026 Quality downgrade Bobbie LynnI have purchased a Kivik sofa and chaise in 2020. It was comfortable and no issues except for minor tears at seams of the covers. I recently purchased the sofa in 2026. What a downgrade from 6 years ago. The covers do not fit, the fabric is itchy and the couch itself is hard and lumpy. What a shame!
Absolutely garbageElaineThreads all over the cover no trim is on track return immediately
Pilling FabricTamaraI decided to change colour and buy the Black/Charcoal cover for the Winter. I have two sets of cream. (Original fabric)
This new fabric looked great at first, but it’s constantly pilling and looks cheap! I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve only had 3 or 4 months and past the return date. :(
Does not fit FunmilolaDon’t buy this cover if your kivik is before 2021. They changed the dimensions on the sofa and did not bother to include a notice . I even went in store to talk to a service representative, they did not have a clue about the sofa sizing getting changed !
Terrible waste of money - doesn’t fit properly and cheap qualityJessicaWe already had a cover on it and had to replace it due to normal wear over the years. We got this one and right away it seems too tight…causing the couch to lose its comfort. Hoping it would stretch out after use, we kept it. It never did. Tried to bring it back letting them know that it was clearly defective, we were told no as we were a few days late for return. Don’t waste your money if you’re buying it for a replacement cover. Doesn’t fit and quality is cheap.
Benefit of the doubtChelseaI saw all the negative reviews about the quality of these but wanted to give IKEA the benefit of the doubt and see if they were better than people were saying..
unfortunately they are not.
The seams have threads coming out everywhere. They don’t line up properly and just feel cheap. One of our covers even came with some sort of ink stain.
The only thing I really love is the light grey colour.
Awful pillingHannaLove our Kivik Sofa/Sectional and was so excited to refresh it with some new sofa covers. Within a month, the covers started to pill. I try to use a fabric shaver regularly but the pilling just keeps getting worse and worse. Would recommend getting a different sofa with different material.
Fabric materialAmirThe fabric material is cheaper than what I got 10 years ago.
Quality has gone way down!TamaraWe have owned our Kivik sofas for over a decade and love them!
Our kids (now 13/15) were hard on our playroom covers- so I thought I would replace the cover.
Let me tell you- the original is in better shape than this expensive new set- after two months! They just sit on them now- I can’t understand how this has been allowed to happen.
Pulls in the fabric, that existed out of the box and pilling everywhere… just looks and feels cheap.
What happened?!
I had a bad experienceMaryamThe Sofa arrived on 2nd August 2025 without its hardware (nuts and bolts), so I should wait until IKEA resolve this issue by sending the hardware or replace it with new one which will finally will consumed minimum one week.
These are absolutely the WORST covers ever made.TinaI have had these covers for less than a year when they started to pill and look disgusting. I understand they are washable, but even after you try to wash them they never look the same again. The more you wash them in fact, the worse they get. Just more pilling, and they look dirty even after a week of being washed. I WISH I could go back in time and choose a different couch, with different covers. I’m so beyond disappointed, even if Ikea offered me a brand new set I’d tell them no, give me something else.
Very disappointed with this cover.Anonymous reviewerWe LOVE the sofa. LOVE. Literally the best couch ever for 1,000,000 reasons. The cover looked 10 years old within about 2 months of use. Great color, terrible quality. Very disappointed. Get the light grey!
Don’t buyShelleySofa covers look terrible now. The fabric is thin and cheap looking. They do not fit properly and are puckered everywhere. Completely disappointing. I returned the product and tried other colours. They all fit and looked the same way
Kivik loveseatPriyalI love it
Backrest Always look weirdTobiMaybe a different foam material should be used to give the backrest a more defined look but no matter how many times we adjust them, they always look funny. Not sure if buying a different cover will fix the problem. The couch is functional but the appearance doesn't improve the look of my living space.
BonitoMarcosGrande, facil de montar e bom pra sentar com a familia
terrible qualityJenthe worst couch cover. we have had 2 other kivik covers over the years that were great, but this new one is a massive step down in quality. the fabric is awful - not soft, almost scratchy. the fit is terrible - cushion covers are too big, look sloppy and slide around, and the quality is very poor - weird stitching, strings hanging out and a 2” spot on the arm seam that is a mess. very disappointed. they tried to put some anti-slip thing on the bottom of the seat cushions which doesnt work and means you can’t flip the cushions, the cover only works one way. will not be buying again and will be checking future purchases closely.
Product does not specify what size KivikMatthewI learned the hard way. Make sure you aware that throughout the years Ikea has had multiple different sizes of their Kivik sofa. Such as a 3 seat and 3.5 seat. This product listing gives no details about which Kivik sofa this cover is intended for.
