Great laundry sinkAmandaThis is my second Havsen sink. I had the double in my old house in the kitchen. The only reason I went with a different sink for my kitchen in the new house is because I wish the Havsen were a little deeper. Which is also why I have it 4 stars instead of 5.
Had my previous Havsen for years and it held up well. No complaints with quality at all.

Sink looks great though. Also wish ikea sold a dish rack that sits over the lip and drains into the sink as well as a sink guard for inside the basin to prevent damage.

Cracked on the third day of useAnonymousI bought this sink as the centrepiece for our kitchen. Planned everything around the dimensions and setup of this sink. The faucet, the plumbing and the counter. We spent the last month renovating our house and finally moved in three days ago. This morning I was washing the drinking glasses I bought from Ikea yesterday and dropped one from about 3 inches above the sink. The glass didn't break or chip but the sink cracked. It now has a 6 inch long hairline crack in the sink. It's completely noticable to look at and to touch. We're extremely, extremely disappointed and disheartened... It's not like we can swap this sink out for another model. The cabinets, plumbing and counter are all made around this sink. Completely regret the decision of buying this sink and now have to open a return/warranty case with Ikea. I would definitely go with stainless if I could go back in time, regardless if it fully matched our kitchen or not.
Havsen Apron Front sinkAnonymousSo, I only really discovered Ikea for kitchens in 2015. I would probably describe myself as an Ikea fan. There are lovers and haters...obviously. But their prices and really the quality of kitchen were always amazing, especially for price. At the time, after researching them online, there was a lot of (deserved) hype for their kitchen products and an insane loyal following online. In my opinion, a lot of this was generated by Ikea's ability to cater to the DIY'er. I feel, and I feel like their apron front sink is at the heart of both their success and now perhaps a decline in success, that some of that has changed. And, for the record, I found Ikea, BECAUSE of their Domsjo apron front sink. I ended up ordering the rest of my kitchen, BECAUSE of the Domsjo (and I am not alone. There are a ton of people, still, who WANT the fireclay apron front look and will compromise to get it!). It started with the sink, led to the coordinating base cabinet, which extended to the rest of the cabinets, and coincided with the counter top choices. Listen up Ikea. I bought 3 appliances I didn't need, 75 sq.ft of counter top (I now can't find a single counter top I want to buy from Ikea, although I see at least that the old pragel white stone, now called Saljan, has reappeared on the website. At least this product has a fully wrapped front laminate edge! Their marble, on the hand, does not!), I bought the beautiful apron front sink, multiple decorative hanging racks as extras, cabinets, shelves, an armoire, faucets, under mount lights, ceiling fixtures...almost anything I could need and some that I didn't. And all of these purchases (for just this one kitchen job!) came as a result of the old Domsjo. It might be worth bringing it back. Despite it's problems. For anyone who had the original Domsjo (assuming yours didn't break...because apparently that happens), you will know what I am talking about. So, the Havsen. I bought it, after waiting for it to come out. And then I returned it. To be frank, I hated it. It is incredibly small, shallow, the apron is ridiculously short, and overall it almost looked like a large bathroom sink to me. I bought it for the price, which compared to other apron front sinks was still affordable, and then I just couldn't stick with it. Instead, I spent a lot of time crawling the second hand market. Sure, that is not an option for most people, and I would still recommend this sink, and Ikea, to fellow kitchen upgraders. If you really want an apron front, and you don't have a lot of options, this is still probably the go to. But I couldn't go to it. And I know others won't either. I found instead, albeit flawed, a beautiful antique original Belfast sink, which will need some work and will be a pain in the butt and weighs a ton, but it was crazy cheap, so I got lucky. And, best of all: beautiful deep apron front and basin. What the Havsen lacks. So, back to the Domsjo vs. the Havsen. And no, I don't mean the Domsjo that they came out with in 2016, with the new SEKTION cabinet line. This was an imposter as well! One I would have bought and lived with if I'd gotten it in time for my next kitchen reno, because it was better than the Havsen. The Domsjo I love and speak of was beautiful, cheap ($244+HST, so bigger, more substantial, better looking, and CHEAPER than the Havsen); I had the single bowl, (which to me was larger as it fit bigger pans), and it had a huge basin and apron just like the $800+ apron front sinks typically have. This Domsjo was discontinued in 2015, as they were phasing out the AKURUM cabinet line. I bought the akurum cabinets, almost couldn't even complete my design as the pieces were selling out, and had an uncle find the sink in a Montreal store and ship it with a trucker friend across the country to Nova Scotia. It was worth it! I loved that sink. We sold the house, but I still get to visit the sink. And the SOLID WOOD 9 ft x 3ft island. That's a different review. But it's all tied to the sink. We were able to fabricate a massive birch counter top for that sink using Ikea's old counters, because they were solid wood. We even got to make cutting boards, etc with the remnants! I digress. THIS is where the DIY'er could work. And it has all changed. (I also think I even prefer the Akurum kitchen line...seemed more solid, and I DEFINITELY hate the newer apron sink cabinet design with the faux panel instead of longer doors under the apron front. This cheapens the look, and visually makes the apron appear even shorter than it is/was on either the 2nd Domsjo or now the Havsen). The Domsjos had the back drain board. I liked this. It extended the option of not needing solid surface counter tops. It gave extra water resistance and longevity. It meant DIY'ers did not have to jigsaw out sink hole, because the Domsjo ran the full depth of the counters...which, at first sets it apart from real apron front sinks that are more expensive, but when you realize it is so much more practical to top mount and not have to buy solid surface counters you actually learn to love and appreciate that back drain board! FYI for those who didn't know, the single Domsjo did not have the groves (which some ppl did not like for cleaning), and it also had punch out holes underneath. I was able to install a bridged faucet with sprayer, no problem. This sink had it all. And, never a crack (knock on wood; ****you MUST buy a sink grid***). So, all in all, hate the Havsen; still have faith in Ikea. But, sadly for them, I can't find anything from their store I currently want to buy. (ohh except for their awesome new 100% cotton produce bags and bamboo lid glass containers!) I miss the original Domsjo.
Beautiful!SarahI love this sink - it looks amazing! It did scratch from a pot the first day I washed dishes in it, so now I am careful and have a rubber mat/protector along the bottom. It's a great size. I bought the Ikea sink stopper as well and it works great. I'm very pleased.
poor installation instructionsAnonymousAsk lots of questions about installation when at Ikea. No hardware in box with sink for installations. Trying to get info on installation hardware required. Was giving Sektion #002.845.79, its not correct for farmer style sink. In one word Rigmarole.
