TERMS OF USE PRODUCT REVIEWS
Definitions:
Terms of Use – IKEA targets authentic reviews of products that customers have genuinely tested and used. That’s why terms of use apply to the IKEA Product Review System. If these terms are breached, IKEA has the right not to publish a customer review or to remove it after publication. On the other hand, the customer can always ask for a review to be removed after publication.
IKEA Product Review System – Customers can use the IKEA Product Review System to share their opinions about special offers and products they have purchased at IKEA. All reviews that comply with the review terms of use can be read by other customers at IKEA.be or in the stores. IKEA will use the insights this system generates to improve its products.
IKEA account – IKEA has a legal obligation to collect and save the data identifying all users of the IKEA Product Review System. To ensure we comply with this obligation, every user must have an IKEA Family account. An IKEA (Family) account is free.
Products – Only new products sold by IKEA (in a store or online) can be reviewed. Service and co-workers cannot be reviewed in the IKEA Product Review System.
1. Reviewing a product
Customers can review products in two ways. Either you can respond to an email inviting you to review a product you recently purchased from us or you can log in to IKEA.be directly. In both cases, you need to have an IKEA (Family) account. Customers undertake to provide us with their precise details and not to use another person’s identity to review a product. For more information about our Privacy policy, read this. IKEA is very grateful for your product review. However, participation is completely voluntary.
2. Purpose of a review
IKEA targets authentic reviews of products that customers have genuinely tested and used. By reviewing a product you give IKEA the right, for a term of 10 years, to use, save, publish. translate, disseminate and reproduce the contents of this review along with the first name you provide with your review. All reviews that comply with the terms of use can be read by other customers at IKEA.be or in the stores as a source of additional information about the product. IKEA will also use the insights the IKEA Product Review System generates to improve its products.
3. Review terms of use
The aim of IKEA is to publish only relevant reviews, be they positive or negative. The following review terms of use apply to review contents.
When reviewing a product, you promise that:
- You are the sole author and owner of the intellectual property rights of that review
- You voluntarily waive all ‘moral rights’ to those contents
- All the contents of your review are correct and based on your own first-hand experience
- You are at least 18 years old
- The contents of your review do not breach these terms of use
You also promise not to provide a product review:
- That does not concern the quality or functions of the product
- That concerns your experiences with co-workers and IKEA service
- That you know is untrue, incorrect or misleading
- That breaks the law
- That is defamatory, insulting, spiteful or offensive
- For which you receive payment or a reward from a third party
- That contains information relating to other websites, addresses, social media channels, contact information or phone numbers
- That is deliberately infected with viruses, Trojans, worms, logic bombs or other malware.
IKEA will perform automated and manual checks to identify and remove reviews that breach these terms of use. IKEA reserves the right to reject (before publication) or remove your review (after publication) if it breaches the review terms of use without having any obligation to notify you or give you any form of compensation. As a consequence, reviews will only be published 7 days after receipt. In doing so, we ensure that only reviews that fulfil the review terms of use are published. However, IKEA is unable to give any guarantees that inappropriate reviews will never be published.
4. Removal of reviews on IKEA.be
If, after submitting the review, you would like it to be deleted, you can contact Customer Service.
