Rusted within 3 monthsRudiI purchased in April and in July I noticed the water from the kettle was brown. On investigation found the joints between the base and upper shell were rusting. Dissapointing as otherwise it is a nice kettle.1
Making tea without electricity, barbecue heating or gas heating. BharatBought the kettle to have tea or making hot water on our camping trip, where electric is not available. Had a lovely experience as it is well designed to whistle to inform water is boiling and ready for a nice cup of tea. 4
Spout cap broke within a weekAlessandraThis kettle is wonderful as it is easy to clean and holds a lot of water and keeps it warm for a longer time than other kettles I have previously owned. However, the whistle can be very faint if the cap isn’t put on properly and it can have a bit of condensation coming out of it if too full. Also, I was very disappointed at noticing how the cap to the spout broke within a week from purchasing. I’m sure it won’t affect the performance, but it is annoying that for no apparent reason (it never fell) it broke so quickly.4
Rusted within 6 months of useYen LingWe’re so shocked to see inside of the kettle rusted so badly! We only use it occasionally for the past 6 months. Will not recommend!1

Not happy with it itMariaNot happy with it it looks good i purchased to put on my wood heater but after a few days I realised when it boiled it didn't whistle and it is leaking1
KettleLynetteBecause it has a decent opening at top, you can actually give it a proper wash before use. Also appears to be great quality compared to similar product sold at other stores.5
Not good qualityMarilynNot good quality1
Not durable.ChunliI bought it 2 years ago. Not long after using it, I found that the body of the pot was rusted. Now the handle falls off, and the handle is welded to the body of the pot. Because the stainless steel material used to make the pot body is very thin, there is a hole at the welding point of the pot body.3

VATTENTÄT Kettle, stainless steel/black, 2 l

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavour to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free. Like many other metals, it can be recycled again and again to become new, hardwearing things – without losing its valuable properties.
