If you have difficulties pushing down the plunger, remove it from the pot. Then try to push it down slowly and gently vertically. Do not force the plunger down or to the sides since the glass may break.

Better than more expensive brands SueI’ve had a number of small size French presses, usually at least 4 times the price & even paid more for one with a silicone edged filter, but this bargain from IKEA has been the best performing & most robust one I’ve had.
Is it the most aesthetically pleasing? No. But it’s very ergonomic to pour & it filters very well. The only downside is that the indentation in the glass that keeps the base on makes it difficult to scoop all the grounds out, but that’s not enough to knock it off the top spot in my experience. I have a replacement lined up in case of emergency & the 2 of them are still half the price of other brands!
Bevare - plastic part in plungerVesnaI've bought many Ikea coffee plungers. Yes. they break easily, spouts chip off quickly, but I liked the design and ease of use. However, I bought 3 new ones recently and was disappointed that there is now a plastic part that you push into the hot coffee! Previously it was all mental. I would love to return all of them, but I already used them. Waste of money. I really don't like cancerogenic black plastic lacing my morning coffee. Do better IKEA! Don't destroy your good product by cutting corners.
