I recently purchased an IKEA SLATTUM upholstered bed frame (dark grey).
After assembly, I noticed a strong chemical/sour odour coming from the upholstered footboard/side rail area.
The bed has been ventilated continuously for several days with windows open and a ceiling fan running, but the odour remains strong and is noticeable throughout the room.
The smell appears to be concentrated in one specific upholstered section rather than the entire bed frame.
Could you please advise whether this is normal, or whether there may be an issue with this component?

Solid Slattum BedLynThis bed is easily assembled if time is taken to read and preview instructions. It is a solid construction and if assembled correctly should be a great asset.

Great bed, very comfy, easy assemblyLauraOk, so I suspect my OCD makes me uniquely qualified to assemble IKEA furniture because I found this pretty easy to assemble and it's wildly comfortable. It's a queen but feels compact and solid. Love it.

It only took 45 min to put together. We spent an extra 15 min tightening the screws and shaking the frame to ensure that there was no give.
Seriously, even if this bed only lasts a year, I feel like I would have gotten my money's worth.
If your bed is creaking after assembly, you may not have tightened it properly the first time. If it's creaking a few weeks/months into use this is actually normal. You need to maintain it by using the alan key to tighten the screws every few months, this is like a 10 minute job, you signed up for this when you brought a $200 bed.
Spend the time to tighten all screws and set it up properly and this bed is a dream.

Whenever I roll over it squeeks, it has so many parts as well and has been a pain to move. The assembling and reassembling has been a nightmare. If i’m being honest this bed frame has made me hate Ikea products
