Product details

25 year guarantee. Read about the terms in the guarantee brochure.

The worktop is made of particle board covered with a top layer of veneer. This method allows us to use less wood in production.

Worktop with a thick oak veneer, a hardwearing natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.

Oak is an exceedingly strong and durable hardwood with a prominent grain. It darkens beautifully with age acquiring a golden-brown undertone.

Every worktop is unique, with varying grain pattern and natural colour shifts that are part of the charm of wood.

For quick installation and easy maintenance the worktop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.

The worktop has an end-grain design that gives it a rustic charm that complements traditional kitchen styles. The expression is enhanced by design on the edges.

You can cut the worktop to the length you want and cover the edges with the included edging strip.

Care

Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two worktops because the heat can damage the seam.

Areas where the worktop may dry out, such as edges and areas around the sink and hob, require frequent treatment.

The worktop surface is pre-treated at the factory with hard wax oil. Due to the nature of the material, treat the edges and cut-outs with wood treatment oil, prior to installation.

To ensure that your worktop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the worktop.

Even though thick veneer is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the worktop without a trivet or pot stand.

Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface.

Worktops in laminate or thick veneer that are installed above a dishwasher or oven shall be protected on the underside with FENSJÖ diffusion barrier.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 25 cm. The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 80 cm.

Quality productMilesI selected this for a client’s kitchen and they have nothing but praise for it. It matches their butcher’s block perfectly.5

Warping veneerAnonymousUnlike most ikea products this one is a dud. Within a few weeks of installing it, the veneer started warping and bubbling away from its backing. I bought it rather than full timber for sustainability reasons, and ikea seem to be focussing on that problem, that and the products good looks. It is described as hard wearing and pretreated, only needing refinishing if worn but i dont believe that this product is suitable as a benchtop and has been a waste of money.1
The wooden surface warps DO NOT BUYKellyI bought this only 3 months ago, and it wooden surface have already started warping and bubbling up in random places across the board, some places completely lifting off the particle board. It's been used in a moisture free basement minibar, and only modifcations to it was the hole for the sink and tap, both of which have been sealled according to instruction. The length of of the board was not modified. Terrible quality control, if that's even the issue, possibly just a bad design using thin layer of real wood veneer not properly glued over particle board. Avoid if you plan to use this for any length of time. Will be returning mine for a refund and get some real timber benchtop. It's not even that cheap compared to Bunnings timber boards!1

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Built and tested to last

We believe that our kitchen worktops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our worktops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it for 25 years.
