You can easily create your own personal lamp by combining the lamp base with your choice of lampshade, or just a decorative light bulb.

    Use a clear light bulb if you have a lamp shade or lamp with a perforated or cut-out pattern or other airy, open design and want the pattern to cast effects on the wall and ceiling.

    Use an opal light bulb if you have an ordinary lamp shade or lamp and want an even, diffused distribution of light.

FaultyMarciaI returned this for a refund because of a fault. The screw at the centre was not straight meaning when the 2 parts were screwed together they were crooked. The lamp looked like the leaning tower of Pisa. There is clearly no quality control in the manufacturing process. The only good thing was that the refund process was easy.1

i'm buying this because the last one broke.Martyseems to be ok, but i'm buying this because the last ikea lamp i bought (similar to this) broke at the switch. it was a few years old but well looked after. it broke at the switch and was impossible to fix as the switch was embedded inside. if this one breaks i will have my vengeance.2
