Good to know

Can be used on the corner unit only if the shelf next to it has no doors.

The door does not fit bookcases purchased in the spring of 2014 or earlier.

Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. In case it would break, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

Care

Wipe clean with a cloth dampened in a mild cleaner.

Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Safety and compliance

Handle with care! A damaged edge or scratched surface can cause the glass to suddenly crack or break. Avoid bumps from the side - this is where the glass is most vulnerable.

These doors are a perfect addition to the extensions we added above the Billy bookcases. They keep the dust out of the cabinets and highlight the contents.

I used these doors on the bottom of the billy bookcase to keep dust, debris and my cats from getting into my bottom shelves. I just placed one of the adjustable shelves at the top of the door height. Works great and looks good too.

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
