MALM Chest of 3 drawers, white stained oak veneerToddAll Ikea products I have purchased are affordable, attractive, and high quality. My first purchase was an oak side table that was light weight enough to bring home by myself from the store. Next, an oak coffee table was purchased and air delivered from Ikea England. The most expensive purchase was back in 2019 when I custom designed and assembled an Ikea Pax Komplement oak finish wardrobe. The storage, appearance, and quality is excellent. The wardrobe still looks like new in 2025. It wasn't until August, 2025 that I purchased a MALM chest of 3 drawers for use in my house office room. The drawers were simple enough to assemble by myself using only two screwdrivers and one hammer. The extra 148 litres storage has been put to good use. The AU $19 delivery cost was excellent value for 26.80 kg and 16.40 kg boxed packages courier truck delivered to my house front door.

Malm 3 draw - very heavy unit, so watch out if you’re doing it yourself!AnonymousIt would have been good to know the weight of this unit when researching it. It comes in 2 boxes, which I assumed would make it manageable for the average female, but whoa! Super heavy. Passersby in the parking area helped me lift it into my car boot, but I had to rip the boxes open and remove the components piece by piece when I got home, to carry them upstairs.
I’m not sure WHY this unit has to be so heavy. It has some very heavy components in it, like a big stabilizing slab running across the bottom one third. Very heavy to lift by yourself during construction, which I did, so watch yourselves! (Tip: I did most of the construction of draws & part of the cabinet on my dining room table to avoid the crawling around. A small drill with screwdriver bit would have been handy.) The draws slide well, but overall seem cheaply constructed. The unit looks good overall.
It took me about 8 hours to build, and the instructions were straightforward, so make sure you have time to do it!
