Helpful for my LeathercraftRodI bought this item to hold paper roll which I pull out onto to my workbench when I need to stain and colour my Leathercraft pieces. Key things tidy and the paper is conveniently stored out of the way and be dispensed easily when needed. Very happy with is item and its matching paper roll5

MalaBiancaI attached it to my studio wall. It’s so useful to have a roll of paper to sketch ideas on5
It comes with a stick!AnnaMy toddler loved this item. There's place to place crayons in and when he took it apart he found the stick !!! That's the actual paper holder. The stick is now his favorite toy and he's drawing on all other surfaces but the paper. Totally worth it!5
Love!NicoleSo handy. Daughter loves it5
Mala creativity inspirationTaniaLove being able to provide paper exactly the right size. No longer need to limit granddaughters creativity to an A4 page.5
Paper roll cutterSamI find it useful to store a paper roll and enable me to cut the length of paper I need for planning purposes.5
Rips PaperSarahLove the idea... do not love the actual thing. The paper rips on the sides no matter how gently you pull it out. Disappointed as my kid can't use it without me to help get the paper out.1
Perfect for children IreneExcellent product 5

Simple organiser.MatthiasEasy and smart in use and appearance. Absolutely child safe. They can handle it themselves. Funny surprise. we had stocked up on Måla paper rolls when rumours were spreading that the price might rise due to worldwide timber shortages. The price has come down in 2024 and so did the size of the roll. This stand does not take the old rolls. I had to cut them down by 15 mm to fit. Sådant är livet ... 5
PerfectCarloPerfect for drawing paper5

Paper tears when rolling outJamesAffordable and looks good. Unfortunately, when rolling the IKEA branded MALA paper from this product, the width of the paper is too wide and continues to tear. There are other reviews commenting on this problem which makes me feel like it’s a design problem. 2
First go of drawing! HeleneMy grand son 14 month was very excited and did his first drawing! Easy to build and easy to use. 5

For all creative little explorers

Drawings all over the kitchen table and coloured felt pens without caps. Does it sound familiar? This is definitely part of living with children, and actually something to be happy about. Painting, drawing, and crafting are in fact not just fun, but important work, and a way for your child to develop. When we created the MÅLA series, we wanted to take children’s creation very seriously and listened to the true experts: the children themselves.

We always start with the child’s perspective to understand what they really need. In this project, we found facts and inspiration in pedagogy focusing on creativity. “We realised that creativity isn’t just any play for children, they’re little researchers who use creation to understand the world around them,” says Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom who was part of creating the MÅLA series.

Made for busy artists

The team interviewed groups of children who got to try out prototypes and provide their points of view. What were their favourite colours? What did they think of the paper? “The children had very strong and sensible opinions. We also realised how they use drawing and painting gear. For example, if you’re four years old and in the middle of making a drawing, you don’t always think of putting the cap back on the felt pen. So, these pens will last up to three days without caps.” To ensure high quality at the right price, the development work was allowed to take extra time. “What children do and how they do it is super important. That’s why we considered all their feedback and made sure the products met their needs.”

Easy to get started

The MÅLA series has been around for a long time, but it keeps growing and evolving as we see new needs and get new ideas. All parts should be easy to grab and use whenever inspiration strikes. “The child shouldn’t need a parent nearby to start drawing or painting. Being able to do things on your own is an important part of development. You grow with the task.”

Quality

Creative geniuses come in small sizes!

Paint! Draw! Shape! The MÅLA series has everything a child needs to unleash their imagination and creativity – and store drawings. There’s an easel, colourful modelling dough, grip-friendly brushes and scissors that suit tiny hands and paints that are easy to mix and wash off. No nagging your child to put caps back on the felt-tip pens – they survive 3 days without caps. And everything’s non-toxic. Since we care just as much about the next generation’s creative minds as you.
