Short circuitsEdwardLooks good, but oil and grease seems to build up in it over time and eventually gets into into the motor/electricals. Poor design leads to a dangerous short circuit that blows the circuit breaker in the fuse box - in my case just after the warranty period, so IKEA won't do anything to resolve it.1
Noisy and cheap looking flueMelindaAfter spending a day taking down our much loved old Ikea Rangehood to replace with this one we are very disappointed. It works fine on low and medium setting but on high it sounds ridiculously loud and a rattling noise kicks in . If u remove the charcoal filter it sounds less laboured on the high setting and without the rattling noise. The flue looks very cheap and “tinny” especially because of the way it joins. We are so disappointed with the quality. We will return it. A shame because we have always been happy with IKEA’s kitchen range1
Working well with a but!BrendanCons - noisy across the range of settings. Unsure if this is a faulty unit, no light for selection panel. Very hard to see where to press. Selection of level going up easy, getting back to the lowest setting? Appears only way is turn off and then restart on lowest setting. Maybe I still have things to learn to drive this, could be me? Pros - looks good, extracts well, does a good job Overall - think noisy is a problem for most unless you pay many times more for a quiet unit. Installation, recommend paying for this. Quite difficult for the untrained, but doable. Very happy so far, will it last? Hope so, as I like more than not. So far, very glad I took a punt on IKEA for my rangehood. Fingers crossed!4

Function solution

Sound levels

Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.

Quality

Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?

For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.
