Noticeable uneven coatingBettyDisappointed with the quality of this ceramic pan. The coating is clearly uneven — most of the surface is smooth, but one area feels very rough and grainy. This is noticeable both visually and by touch, and doesn’t feel like acceptable quality for a new product. It raises concerns about durability and whether the coating will wear out faster in that spot. Would not recommend, and I suggest checking the surface carefully before buying.1

What is sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating?

Sol-gel non-stick is often called ceramic coating and is an increasingly common replacement for other non-stick coatings in frying pans. It comprises mostly of silica and is created by applying a gel-like solution to the product and drying it in an oven. The result is a hard, glossy surface with non-stick properties. Sol-gel can be produced in different colours, it withstands high heat, is easy to use and clean – and allows cooking with little or no fat.
