So customisable and naturalJuliaEasy to assemble but make sure you use a spirit level. Quite sturdy but if you put too much on them they can bow over time. Not such an issue with the shallower shelves. I love that they're easy to pain or varnish. Ivar is one of the best products ikea makes - affordable, customisable in many ways. I hope they always make them. 5
IVAR is greatAnonymousIVAR is great. Easy to assemble and with flexibility of layout. Needing only a screwdriver to fasten the wire cross brace. I have been using IVAR for almost 30 years, and still buying more to add on because it is so useful for storage.5
Good Forever!ChristineI have been buying and using Ivar for over 3 decades. It's so simple to add more. It's a shame that the range in size and add ons isn't as big as it once was. But I am happy to at least be able to buy more shelves and ends if I need them. I will have these shelves for life as they can be set and changed up however you like. Wonderful product.5
If you want to bulid a shelf for wall... this may be not be a good optionsOiIt is not a good idea bookself for wall, for example, it has a 1.5cm -2cm gap between shelf to shelf, I need to put a shelf liner to avoid a book or comic drop in the gap. Also you need a lot of boodends to hold your book. This is a good for storage,and looks pretty cool with natural wood shelves.3

Not so great anymore.IingBelieving and thinking that the quality of the IVAR units of past years were still the same quality we would get with the new IVAR's. However, that was not true. We have owned older IVAR units. These were built so well and solid. They do not wobble or warp before/after bracing and the side units are solidly built with better material than the 2024/2025 IVAR units. - The new units are so poorly made that they wobble and fall without bracing! Have never encountered this with older IVAR units once you placed the base board and top board into place. - The tolerances of your new IVAR shelving units are horrendous and causes the unit to warp/wobble/move immensely while being built. - The wood used in the new IVAR units are such poor quality that when you screw in the braces, they SPLIT! Never had this happened with my old IVAR units, which I still assemble and disassemble occasionaly with multiple brace points. - Highly unstable and a seriously dangerous product to be even be sold. 1
Good Shelf, it seems IKEA do take feedbacksMofeiBefore buying the new shelf unit for my old IVAR shelf, there are many reviews says the new design of metal bracket for the shelf is not good. The main complaint are the metal bracket falls off easily and the label is very hard to take off from the product. I just bought 2 new shelf unit, first it fits nicely with my old IVAR shelf. I am not sure if IKEA has redesign the shelf according to feedbacks, but my shelf's metal bracket seems to nail to the wood very sturdily, not easy to fall off. Also the sticks are very easy to peel off. Only downside is that the metal bracket fits to tide, makes the shelf very difficult to reposition. So I don't push the bracket all the way just let the shelf sitting on top.4
CleverNadaThis is a very cleverly designed shelf with the shelf hooks inserted in the tracks which are then removed and inserted into the vertical beams. The shelf then clicks into place making it extremely secure. It's also made of solid wood which I appreciate. Love it!5

We bought a few shelves to supplement IVAR my husband has had for at least 20 years. The new shelves match the quality of the older stock and fit perfectly. I expect that they'll continue to serve us well for years if we take care of them.
