We have replaced the feet with wheels to make it easier to move. This would definitely benefit from having a hinge for the lid. We purchased when there was a family Ikea discount.4

makes a good bench or parcel boxSydneyusing this as a parcel box and it's a great size if you get regular deliveries. almost all parcels will fit inside unless you buy, like, furniture. it's mostly waterproof, but depends how well you put the lid back on—droplets will get through if it's raining heavily and the lid's not placed on properly. like other users have mentioned, this would benefit a lot from having hinges. i'm not handy enough to know what hinges to buy or how to install them unfortunately.4
Perfect fitBrianI’ve bought this piece to do a double job, store my Weber Q BBQ handy on the deck and give me the right height platform for it when cooking. It has worked out perfectly (whether IKEA intended or not!). Assembly was straightforward with a quite unusual for Ikea ‘bend over the metal tab’ step. As a bonus it’s sturdy enough to use as a seat when changing the muddy boots, and there’s plenty of space inside for a dog towel for those ‘puddley’ days.5
