You can just shake off water from a light rain, as the cushion cover is water repellent.
The dope-dyeing process reduces consumption of water and dyestuff while improving colour fastness compared to traditional dyeing techniques.
The zipper makes the cover easy to remove.

Good covers, inner cushion disintegratingTessThese covers are nice, but after about 2 years the inner cushion has deteriorated. I can no longer wash the covers because the cushion stuffing will just fall apart when I take them off, but the whole reason I chose these ones was the washable covers which would last longer & be a more sustainable option! Disappointing.

Not waterproof!!SeannaWe had previously purchased several applaro pieces with these cushions. With a recent move we wanted to add more. The new cushions have arrived and first time in the rain completely snogged with water inside. Had to take apart to dry. Previously we had no issue whatsoever. The new cushions are also a different size and weight than the old ones (purchased April 2019, and additional one may 2021) and the fabric is no longer a match either.
Would not recommend purchasing unless you plan to cover or put away after every use.
