The workstation is extra comfortable to work at, because the contoured table top allows you to sit close and supports your wrists and forearms.

Keep your coffee, beverage or snacks nearby in the cut-out cup holders on either side of the table top. The cup holders are made of plastic that is approved for use with food.

Hang the small shelves inside or outside the side panels, depending on your needs.

You can fit a 32" computer monitor or TV by removing the shelf above the table top.

The high side panels help block sunlight and prevent distracting glare on your computer monitor.

Built-in cable management; keeps cables out of sight, but close at hand.

great gaming deskJengreat gaming desk5
Super sturdyLaurinaChosen as it's a perfect fit for the space; solid steel construction is great for a gaming desk and with great design to accommodate components.5
This is the desk I'veDerickThis is the desk I've always wanted. You will want to consider well in advance which way you want to assemble it, height of shelves, speaker shelves in or out, etc. because you do not want to have to take things apart to change the configuration. The placement of the cable nobs seemed impractical to me, so I moved them up and put them in front - cables in neat loops are easily accessible and don't block your monitor view.5
Multipurpose DeskChristineSturdy & solid. Currently using as a desk and not for gaming. Only downside is no drawers and gets very dusty but overall very happy with purchase.5
Great desk, but not as flexible as it may seemJamesThis is an excellent desk, but only if your setup happens to fit well with it. Support for larger or multiple monitors is rather limited due to the lack of space in the display area, and the design of the table hampers the ability to use VESA mounting arms with clamps unless they're attached to the front of the desk. The two small areas below for mini towers is also limited in size, and would ideally only support a micro-ATX case comfortably - my full size ATX case (NZXT Noctis 450) does not fit underneath, and has to reside on a separate table. That said, the various features of the desk are simply outstanding. The "ears" are great for speakers or perhaps smart-controlled desk lamps. The plugs behind the monitor are great for holding headphones and cables, and the cable routing and space underneath the monitor make for great spaces for cable management. If you're looking at getting this desk - be VERY sure of its measurements first. It's a great desk, but only if your gear fits within its limited confines.4
Works well with a 2VickiWorks well with a 2 monitor setup and has good arrangement of shelves for speakers and DVD's etc.. Like the cup holder and headphones holder (cost extra) and keeps everything tidy.5
Love it,StevenI’ve had mine for years now, it’s been through a house move and it’s great, my computer which is a full tower doesn’t fit on the shelves underneath so it’s on the very top, and I have a mini bar fridge on one of the bottom shelves the side shelves I turned inwards and sit speakers on there, even with them turned in my ultra wide monitor fits perfectly between them. It’s extremely sturdy and haven’t had any issues with it, I’m 6ft and can sit comfortably at it on a large computer chair. If I had to point out a few grips it would be the table on the bottom should be slightly longer with the cut out being a little deeper so you could kinda sit into the table that would be better, it could be a little higher too and the bottom shelves would be better if they could accommodate a full tower. But all in all, it’s the best computer desk over ever had, assembly is super easy too if you are comfortable with putting together ikea furniture, I highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed.5
Good desk - just not fit for gaming.ShereeThe Fredde "Gaming" desk unfortunately does not fit a typical gaming PC case. The monitor shelf - while a great idea - prevents the PC from being placed on top of the desk, and there is not enough height allowance to place it on the under-shelves that it seems are intended to hold the PC. This is an enormous design flaw, for something advertised as a "Gaming desk". It is also overall too low to be truly comfortable - especially with any of the popular/higher end gaming chairs. I also wonder if the height allowance for the monitor would fit much above a 32". The upper shelves are really strangely affixed - no screws hold them or anything. I do question the stability, and would not place anything heavy/breakable on them. It's a real shame, as it has such great potential. If each section was raised 5 - 10cm in height, and the upper shelves fitted in a more sturdy/secure way, it would be pretty much perfect for gaming. Now, it's just a well thought out, but poorly executed attempt.2
A Perfect DeskJesseThe desk has plenty of room on the top to fit all of my random items. It was easy to assemble, though I imagine it would have been an easier assembly if done with another person. The side panels can be slightly difficult to fit in, resulting in a metal shaking sound if the panels are not clicked in properly and the table is knocked or shaken. The side panels are also rather thin, as the parts that join to the desk are easy to bend.5
DeskDeniceIs great and versatile. Very sturdy and easy to build. A bit expensive.5

Versatile and spacious deskLeylaUpgraded to this desk from my old tiny desk for the sake of studying. Plenty of space for all your stuff. I fit my monitor, small tv, laptop, and art tablet on it comfortably with room for my speakers and desk lamp. Perfect desk if you tend to have a lot of random clutter on your desk like me. I keep my PC and ps4 on the shelves underneath though it's a tight squeeze for your bulkier PC cases as the steel support bar above can get in the way. Consoles could also fit under the inner shelf on their sides depending on which level you have it on. Metal side panels are great for keeping stray pages out of the way if you have a few magnets on hand. 100% worth the space it'll take up in your room5

Gaming FreddeDinaThis gaming desk was very easy to assemble. It is also the perfect size. My son was very happy with his new gaming desk.5
Closest you'll get to a workstationCaryThis is the closest you'll get to a full workstation without visiting an office furniture supply. It's big, it'll hold a mid ATX tower on each of the lower shelves (right angled IEC leads more than recommended) and there's enough space to route cables. You can reasonably fit a pair of 24" monitors due to the length, the height between both shelves will comfortably fit a 27" and the cable holders on the underside of the upper shelf are quite welcome. The only dissatisfaction I have is the side panels that cover the shelves are a hang fit and can rattle when the desk is moved. Silicone anti scuff pads has secured them however. Due to space I haven't assembled or fitted the external side shelves so I can't comment on them.5

Getting gaming right

If you’re not in to computer gaming yourself, perhaps you have children who are. Across the world, gaming is booming, and naturally IKEA should provide furniture designed for it. So how do players set up a game station to create that immersive gaming experience, what do they need to feel comfortable and supported while playing? When creating FREDDE desk we needed to know. How we found out? We asked a gamer.

David Wahl is not only one of our designers. He’s a gamer too. Of course he got the task. “When I started playing video games you'd have to make sure your friends were free, and someone’s house was free, then make your way down the street, console in hand to play,” David says. “Now, it's just as likely that you're playing with people in Shanghai or Sydney or Stockholm.”

Creating a gaming command central

One of the advantages of gaming's move beyond the TV or the family computer is that gamers are free to make a space customized to enjoy each game's full potential. “A big part of gaming is the immersive experience,” David says. “So my first move when designing FREDDE was to make a cut out in the desktop so that you could be closer to the screen and have almost a command central sort of feel, while also getting support for your arms at the same time.”

Made to be customized

FREDDE fits speakers, a 32" screen, or a couple of smaller screens on a height adjustable shelf. David also had a personal wish. “I used to love playing driving simulator games where you would often use pedals, the same as a car,” he says. “I always found it annoying if you had cables or other things in the way when you were driving so I made sure to design the desk with an unobstructed space for pedals on FREDDE.”

A designer's proudest moment

David is proud to see the gaming community making the desk their own. “If you do an image search for FREDDE it's fantastic to see how people are adapting it to create their own perfect game space, which is exactly in tune with what I hoped.”

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
