The inner cushion may have a slight natural smell from the down and feathers. It’s harmless and fades over time. Airing or washing it and drying it thoroughly in a dryer helps the smell fade faster.

Surprisingly goodLaraAlmost every cushion insert I've ever tried has been a disastrous failure. You know the ones - they need more attention lavished on them than a 3-year-old kindergarten. The biggest issue with these inserts is getting them inside the cover before they fully expand from the packaging. They fit the appropriately-sized cushion covers perfectly (as you'd expect, but sometimes don't get, elsewhere.) I've used some of mine as emergency pillows for visitors, and almost to a body, they've asked me where I got the cushions because they were more comfortable to sleep on than their regular pillow/s. They do settle if you lean/sit or sleep on them for long, but it takes all of four seconds to pick them up, shake them up and plump them out again. They look like new again in under 5 seconds. 5

Love the quality of this insert feather pillow. I swap out different covers easily. You can "chop" the middle to make "rabbit ears" and they stay up for a great display piece. Happy with this purchase. ❤️
