Makes a useful desk topMarcI've attached this to my standing desk and it works great as a desktop, for the same reasons it's designed in kitchens - good, hard surface, takes a beating, resists stains, etc. Sure, it's not as deep as your standard desk, but that works in compact spaces while giving you "wings" either side to spread yourself out. A good, cheap way to hack yourself a desktop, and would work as well with other kitchen work tops from them, picking from a variety for a style you want.5

Kitchen work topJeffNice finish. Easy to cut out sink and install. Just remember ikea supplied screws are Pozi drive. A standard Philips head will destroy the screw heads and result in screws not seated home.5

Cheap qualitySallyThis bench is part of a kitchen fit out in the apartment I have brought. It’s awful! only 6 months old and draws are sagging and warping. The bench surface is so cheap and awful and stains immediately. Ikea is just producing the cheapest rubbish that doesn't last, so bad for the environment. I bet the original dated kitchen would have been a million times better than this. I could tell it was bad immediately but the apartment was so nice I just had to wear it as something that I will need to fix. Still makes me so made how much this happens though. Cheap products for resale and Ikea really fits that bill. I thought I'd at least get more than 6 months before wear and tear started to show. I still have a lot of the receipts and the whole fit out was not even that cheap for the quality.1
Chips horribly MaddiI’m an experienced with DIY projects and have to say this material is horrible if you want to do anything other than have it as is.
I used new, sharp blades and outlined the cut with tape, and the veneer chipped horribly all along, now leaving the whole piece either unusable, or I’ll have to purchase a veneer to cover the whole thing.
