Laminate worktops are made by pressing layers of paper and resin onto particleboard under continuous high heat and pressure, creating a durable and practical surface.

Laminate worktops are durable and easy to maintain. With a little care, they stay like new for many years.

You can cut the worktop to the length you want and cover the edges with the included edging strip.

Finished edges on all 4 sides.

Materials and care

Material

Particleboard, Laminate, Plastic edging, Unbleached paper

Care

Wipe clean with a soft cloth dampened in water and a mild washing-up detergent or soap, if necessary.

Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Even though laminate is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the worktop without a trivet or pot stand.

Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two worktops because the heat can damage the seam.

Always use a chopping board, never cut directly on the worktop with a knife. Never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the worktop as it can scratch the surface.

To prevent permanent stains on the worktop, wipe clean spills or messes immediately with a soft cloth dampened in water and a mild washing-up detergent or soap.

Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface.

Worktops in laminate or thick veneer that are installed above a dishwasher or oven shall be protected on the underside with FENSJÖ diffusion barrier.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 25 cm. The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 80 cm.

Terrible product for a kitchen benchMarciaLooks good, but feels terrible and marks easily. Looking to replace with a different top after 2 months. Would never recommend or buy again.1
Stay well awayLisaUnfortunately, the product has had it's manufacturing line changed in the last 6 or so months, and the new surface of this tabletop is basically paper. Extremely porous and absorbs everything (e.g. leaving paper or any items on the countertop will leave transfer marks that are impossible to get out). The kitchen hasn't even been commissioned for cooking! We are currently appealing for IKEA to cover the cost of uninstalling and reinstalling a different kind of table top. I'm genuinely horrified that this top ever made it pass their QA processes. If you purchased the table over 6 months ago, I think you would be fine - as the surface was more melamine like but this is completely unacceptable.1
Funky & FunctionalJuanitaLove this benchtop! It’s such a fun colour and is great value for money for the size and thickness. My only comment would be that the laminate shows oil and grime quite readily, although it comes off easily with a spray and wipe - something to be mindful of.4

Makes a useful desk topMarcI've attached this to my standing desk and it works great as a desktop, for the same reasons it's designed in kitchens - good, hard surface, takes a beating, resists stains, etc. Sure, it's not as deep as your standard desk, but that works in compact spaces while giving you "wings" either side to spread yourself out. A good, cheap way to hack yourself a desktop, and would work as well with other kitchen work tops from them, picking from a variety for a style you want.5
