Amazing Bookshelf, kept well 20+ years!VahidI have had this Bookcase for over 20 years! It is an Amazing Bookcase! It still looks Brand New! It's Compact and Fits into small areas, while having a broad and deep storage space. Back then, there was no Ikea, but they had another smaller Specialty Shop where I purchased this item. The Bookcase was $99. So, they kept the price down. Good on you Ikea! Thanks for making this important item that people really need, available to everyone!5

Billy bookshelf KeithHave purchased before and they last for years. This time purchased with glass doors. Really easy to assemble. Ended up with a classy enclosed bookshelf bookshelf.5

A bookshelf standardLouisaThe Billy is a bookshelf standard in many homes for good reason. Easily assembled and able to combine in many configurations, the Billy is great for anyone wanting to store books or display anything. Delivery was worth the extra. 5
EsemblyPatriciaOne of the door cushion pads does not fit anywhere and no way of putting the door handles on as there are no pre drilled holes4
Get What You Pay For, or, 'Cheap is Cheap'NicholasThe best thing about Billy bookcases is that they're cheap. The worst thing about Billy bookcases is that they're cheap. There's only one way IKEA (and its Byzantine tax-advantageous corporate structure) can keep stocking Billy for $149.00 AUD: cutting costs on materials. The consequence? The venerable Sir William the Bookshelf's particleboard (read: cardboard) stuffing is simply unfit to bear the weight of... a shelf of books! Indeed, my poor unit now resembles a pack animal having made the Oregon Trail after only two years' service bearing such an onerous burden. Well, someone has to sell bookshelves for $149.00 AUD, and poor sods such as myself who are unable to enjoy such bourgeois indulgence as custom-made built-in solid timber home libraries will continue to buy flimsy particleboard bookshelves for $149.00 and spend the rest of our meagre incomes on stuffing them with books. Long live BILLY!4
Great bookcase but ...JarrodBook cases are fine and work well but the bloody tip warning stickers need to be stuck on with something less permanent and easier to remove 3
