A single unit can be enough storage for a limited space – but you can add more bookcases, extension units and shelves to create a larger storage solution if your needs change.

The back panel fixes in place with snap fittings – making BILLY easy to assemble and disassemble, so you can bring it when moving instead of buying a new one.

Poor finishing for price of productTaylorWe recently purchased 5 Billy bookshelves in the Black/brown colour. We had them delivered which we knew was at risk of being damage in transit, but thankfully only one shelf was damaged due to delivery. We were able to build it and hide the damage. All of the shelves had scuffs or scratches on the parts. Most of it we were able to hide whilst building them by turning it over and choosing the best side. Some scratches that were on the outer sides of the shelf we were lucky enough to be able to hide by pushing them up against another shelf. However there are some on the interior that are still visible. Once again, we can hide with books, so although not noticeable, we know they are there and if we choose to rearrange the objects in our shelves the scratches would be visible again. I feel like the finishing details of the furniture were overlooked. Not happy considering the price you pay for them. Otherwise a sturdy shelf.2
The Billy BookcaseDannyThe bookcase was, as described. My biggest concern was the time and effort of putting it together. This was not anything to worry about the instructions and shelves were easy to read, understand and build. It took around 40 minutes as project with my daughter. IKEA you rule!!!5

Safety sticker cant be removed and is IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOKCASEHaileyI have been waiting years to get my own Billy bookcase, and I was so excited to get one this year. It feels like a really decent quality, the veneer is wrap around so there is no exposed material. BUT be warned, the safety sticker is not removable. Not in a cute "ill just get a solution and a razor blade and remove it" kind of way, in a IT WILL NOT BE REMOVED kind of way. I totally understand the safety concerns (which I followed, and bolted it to the wall accordingly), but now I am stuck with the ugliest warning sticker on a black oak bookshelf. It means even after adjusting the shelves where I can, and strategically stacking books, I can still see it. On top of all of this, the sticker isnt in any of the product photos, so you dont even know its going to be there until its too late. Honestly the most disappointing IKEA experience I have ever had. Please please please keep this in mind! If i had known, I wouldn't have bought this bookshelf.2

New stickers ruin unitShellyThe new warning stickers are not only impossible to remove (on purpose), but they're stuck in the most visible spots, impossible to cover with a book or a decorative object, essentially ruining the whole purpose of the bookshelf as a display unit. I understand why they're there, but they could at least be placed in the same spot on each unit to at least look consistent (we have five units, and all the stickers are at different heights, which is very annoying). If I had known this was the case, I would have bought a different product elsewhere.2

I have several Kallax units, great if you have bins, but if you have smaller items, books and binders, this is vastly superior. Tall with good capacity. Has freed up significant real estate! Great for home libraries and craft rooms.
