When the assembled lamp stands next to the packaging, it can be hard to see how it can fit there at all. A part of the explanation is the cross-shaped base. “We realised that we could make a cross instead of a round base – both to save material and to make the lamp dividable. The cross also adds a unique design element.” The lampshade is made of soft plastic and rolled up like a tube in the packaging. When mounted on the lamp base, it spreads the light both evenly and beautifully.

I like that you can adjust the height of this lamp by removing one piece of the stand, you are able to have it four different heights. The switch located in a perfect place which means it can be used for many purposes, even as a bed side lamp.
It is quite sturdy and assembly was straightforward, you need to follow the instructions well to assemble the shade, which means it need to be inverted and rolled in the opposite direction (don’t squeeze it as shown in the picture on how to assemble, as it will leave unsightly marks on the shade)
It looks so cute and far more expensive than the actual price.
It comes in a tiny package, you’d never expect a lamp shade to be on the inside….one of the enjoyable purchases in current economy and it also diffuses light very gently making the space very relaxing.

Its good except the shadeApernpreetThe stand is great (for $12) its a good buy but the shade is horrendous to say the least. Its a flimsy plastic that is too structured to fold in the correct way. It had teeth that lock into each other to form the wrap around cone shape(?), but it doesnt stay - it basically just opens up as soon as you let it go. I do not recommend despite the price (unless u have a lamp shade thats not this one).

cheap and cheerfulDesireegreat little light-weight lamp, the shade is a bit shady though... the shade is difficult to pop together if you have arthritis, and it falls off the lamp every time there is a breeze but I just used 3 rubber hair ties like a locking nut at the end of each shade support and now it is perfect and withstand the fan and my blindly groping for the switch in the night.

Big design in a small package
Every now and then you need to think outside the famous box to achieve something innovative. But, when we developed BARLAST lamp, we instead stayed inside the box. The goal was a really good lamp at a really good price, and that made the packaging a decisive starting point. From there, we worked our way backwards with materials and design.
Cecilia Sondell Banke, one of our product engineers involved in the work with BARLAST, explains why the packaging can be so crucial for the price: “Transportation is often an essential part of the product cost. By packing the lamp efficiently, we avoid transporting air, and the total cost becomes lower.”

A lower price must never mean compromises with quality. To secure stability and that BARLAST fulfils all legal demands, we made thorough calculations and tough tests. “The products with the lowest price are often the most challenging to develop. All our specialists need to be onboard from the start, and we have to think through the whole process step by step. But, they are also very creative projects that we learn a lot from. And when it comes to BARLAST it resulted in a really nice lamp in a small package,” Cecilia sums up.
