IKEA launches new BLÅVINGAD under the sea themed kids range with products made using recycled plastics
The range was created from the IKEA Kids’ Advisory Panel 2020 where we learned that children are curious about the ocean, marine life and ongoing health and safety of animals that lay beneath the water’s surface. From storage to cushion fillings, soft toys and rugs, a variety of the BLÅVINGAD products contain recycled polyester made from ocean-bound plastic picked up from areas up to 50 km inland from our coastlines.
The BLÅVINGAD range is designed for two age groups ranging from 3-7 years-old and 8+. It consists of textiles and bed linen with enchanting underwater prints, soft toys including marine creature favourites octopus, dolphin, orca and turtle fishing and submarine games for imaginations to dive into and dreamy lighting.
IKEA has an overall aim to use only renewable or recycled materials in all products by 2030 and continue to explore new materials to develop alternative solutions in areas where there are limited options today.
