Getting a good night’s rest is key to being your best self tomorrow. Creating a bedroom that encourages relaxation and down time helps to relieve the stress from the day. We spoke to Interior Designer, Kirsty Walker, for her tips on how to put the outside world on mute and get ready for a good night’s sleep.

The bedtime ritual

Given that we spend about one-third of our lives asleep, it’s important to create a personal oasis of calm. A haven you can visit every evening - where the worries of the outside world fade away.

Start by consciously dedicating areas of the bedroom to encourage relaxation and mindfulness. Your bedside table is a great option. Perfectly in arms reach from the comfort of your bed you can create a bedtime ritual like reading, journaling, burning a candle or storing your favourite essential oils ready to use. These activities assist your body to release relaxing chemicals that set the stage for a great sleep.

Store the stress away

Does your bedroom feel cluttered or disorganised? This can be a sign of not having the right storage solution for your needs. Closed storage solutions in the bedroom can help to alleviate stress and keep your space feeling calm. So, you can nod off without getting distracted by the clutter.

Create a relaxed vibe with this table or floor lamp.

Create gentle layers and cosy feels with beautiful natural textures.

“It’s important to treat your bedroom like a retreat, a space dedicated to R‘n’R. Your personal space, your escape from the world, your cocoon”.
