IKEA Mindsets - 15 minutes to a calmer mindset

Following unpreceded demand for the previous five mini-flatpacks that were released in July 2020, IKEA Australia has released a new 6th Mindset available to all Australians; Älg.

IKEA Mindset: Älg

The IKEA Life at Home Report 2019 found 76% of Australians agree that privacy is important to their wellbeing. That’s why we created Älg – a 3D wall mountable Swedish Moose that can be made entirely from IKEA cardboard boxes to encourage Australians to take time out to focus on themselves.

If you’re in need of some “me time”, book in some time with Swedish Älg and switch on one of the five specially crafted podcasts by Yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins; Mr Chuck the sausage dog; famous Aussie gardener Jason Hodges; prolific artist Fintan Magee or IKEA’s own Christine Gough via the links below.

Introducing Limited Edition IKEA Mindsets

Welcome to Mindsets, a new series of products that transforms the IKEA assembly process into a mindful experience, leaving you with a product that makes life at home better. Each product takes 15-minutes to assemble – the exact amount of time needed to reset, rejuvenate, and recharge your mind in a private and mindful way.

To help Aussies address their privacy concerns, we are giving away a limited number of IKEA Mindsets. Meet them below!

    IKEA x Mr Chuck: Hundgodis

The IKEA Life at Home Report 2019 found 99% of Australians enjoy doing deliberate, specific activities when we have privacy at home. That’s why we created Hundgodis - the puzzle activity designed specifically to give you and your dog a mindful experience, and a treat at the same time. This Mindset was created in collaboration with Mr Chuck (@mr.chuck.dachshund), one of the internet’s most famous dachshunds, well known by humans and canines alike and an important part of the design and construction process in creating Hundgodis.

      IKEA x Jason Hodges: Fågelhus

The IKEA Life at Home Report 2019 found 34% of Australians say taking care of others inhibits their privacy in the home. That’s why we created Fågelhus - the birdhouse that inspires you to connect with the outdoors. Use it as an opportunity to reset and help create comfort at home, not just for you, but a little flying friend too. This Mindset is a collaboration with Jason Hodges (@jasonhodgesandco), a four-time Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show gold medallist. Jason spends all of his thyme in gardens and was an important part of the design and construction process in creating Fågelhus.

        IKEA x Fintan Magee: Skulptur

The IKEA Life at Home Report 2019 found 69% of Australians think private time for activities that enable personal growth is important. That’s why we created Skulptur, an abstract sculpture that not only looks good, but also makes you feel good about yourself. This Mindset was created with Fintan Magee (@fintan_magee), an Australian street artist whose work is renowned for being larger than life (literally) and whose paintings are displayed on what we now know as Skulptur.

          IKEA x Emma Watkins: Xylofon

The IKEA Life at Home Report 2019 found 17% of Australians believe music allows more privacy in their lives. That’s why we created Xylofon - a small but authentic instrument that you can assemble and play to help you get more in tune with yourself. This Mindset was created with Emma Watkins (@emma_wiggle), one of Australia’s most beloved entertainers who sure knows how to wiggle and was an instrumental part of the design and construction process in creating Xylofon.

          Continue your mindful experience

            IKEA X Christine: Underlägg

Taking time away from your screen is crucial in order to stay focused over longer periods. That’s why we created Underlägg - the puzzle coaster that challenges your mind while helping to relax it - all while sipping your favourite cuppa.

This Mindset is has been created in collaboration with Christine (@ikea_australia), Head of Interior Design at IKEA and flat pack connoisseur who was an important part of the design and construction process in creating Underlägg.

            Continue your mindful experience

Each year IKEA launches the Life at Home Report, the longest running and biggest study of life at home across 30 different countries. In 2019 we learnt that globally, privacy is one of the most important emotional needs of home, but we don’t always feel we get enough.

We understand the frustration of Australians not having privacy at home, particularly in the current environment, and so we want to use our knowledge to give a little inspiration to make life at home better, and more relaxed. Our latest creation, IKEA Mindsets, take 15 minutes to construct, securing a bit privacy for people in their homes by allowing them to engage in mindful activity.
