How to create a fantastic family-focused everyday room
Do you feel like you’re not getting the most out of your living room layout? We helped a family from Hunter’s Hill, New South Wales, create a cosy living space while also making space for each family members interests. Come see!
Inspiration starts here

Meet Lesley and John. They live with their two children, close to the city, and love partaking in outdoor activities. Something they haven’t been finding as convenient however is their living room layout, which they describe as the hub of the house as well as being a big transit area.
Working on the clutter crisis first, we used the BESTÅ storage system to create an organised place for both Alison and Finlay’s hobby equipment, illuminated by the URSHULT cabinet light. See those circular cork message boards on the door? They’re actually repurposed HEAT pot stands from the kitchen department.
Alison and Finlay love the living room for hanging out, the only drama is that a lack of power points means that it’s hard to keep smartphones at full battery. A NORDMARKE wireless charging station means it’s easy to keep multiple devices topped up cable-free.
The family’s living room often does double duty as a work space for the kids’ art projects. A designated desk space with good lighting helps solve the dilemma, while MOSSELANDA shelves provides a place for putting up photographs and artwork from the family, both personalising the room and saving the walls from multiple picture hanging projects.

“It’s become a really cosy living space where we can all come together and just enjoy good times."
