Do IKEA candles contain parraffin?

We have strict requirements on what substances that can be used in our candles. Paraffin can be one of the ingredients in our candles however the amount and levels contained comply with Australian law.

IKEA wants to minimise or totally refrain from the use of chemicals and substances that can be harmful to people and the environment.
We have strict requirements on what substances that can be used in our candles. The main raw materials used in our candles are paraffin, vegetable wax and stearin. Additionally:
  • Pigments and dyes are used for colouring.
  • The wicks are made of 100% cotton.
  • Fragrance oils are added in scented candles.
  • Candle fragrances are made by mixing natural essential oils and aroma chemicals.
We limit the use of fragrance allergens and other harmful substances according to legal regulations and our own, strict internal requirements.
