Nice and simple but can only hang small towelsKristyI appreciated the shape as I thought the angle would still allow easy access to drap on the topmost bar as it comes away from the wall slightly. In actual practice, it's only easy for thin or small towel like items to drap, was hoping to use it as a dumping area for clothes and as a quick easy access step stool. It's very sturdy and works as a step stool, but cannot hang much on it. It's still a very nice stylish piece that I'll probably have to repurpose for displaying plants and decorations, or as a side table.
Good to look at, useful and space savingChristineFinding space to dry used and keep handy fresh towels is always a problem, wall space is hard to find and traditional towel rails take up so much room. This does the job brilliantly as well as giving me somewhere to sit and dry my feet or watch the grandchild in the bath.

Not exactly IKEA qualityWei-KoI used to I admire the design and precision of IKEA's products, but this one is not the case.
Two big problems.
One, the bar under seat at back has angle, it's not 90 degree as the connecting parts they provide, it's impossible to put them together if you don't concave the connecting parts first, and it will also damage bamboo parts when you try to turning the screw with that wrong angle.
Two, the The hole in the upright part on the right side of the back is wrong.
You won't be able to put them together before you make the hole bigger and to the right angle. (You may not success.)
Moreover, the tool it comes with is small and hard to use, not designed for this product.
It's difficult to apply force to rotate and keep getting stuck because the chair is designed at an angle.
And after you assemble it, it's not leveled and not stable.
You have to force all the parts to go to where they should be by putting the finished product on the ground and putting something heavy on it (like sitting on it).
It's not an IKEA quality pice, but if you can conquer all those problem, yeah, it's a nice idea! Looks good and a very useful piece.

Lessons in bamboo with the professor
You know the feeling when you learn something new. The excitement, and the instant eagerness to learn even more. That’s how we felt when we were fortunate enough to cross paths with the “bamboo professor”. We didn’t even plan to use bamboo for RÅGRUND bathroom furniture, our original idea was a bed. But things changed. And now we know a lot more than we did before.
After some thinking and testing, we realized bamboo is more suitable for a bathroom than a bedroom. Why? It’s a grass that mostly grows in the tropics—a climate similar to a steamy, hot bathroom. To carry out their new plan, product developer Damon Hird and his team left the forests of Sweden and headed to a factory in China. Visiting factories to collaborate and design directly on the factory floor helps us maximize material use and save resources.

The team focused on combining the need of more spots for storage, maximizing small spaces and wanting to sit comfortably with the lessons from the “bamboo professor.” After 5 days, they headed back to Sweden with a design that was finalized into RÅGRUND towel rack chair. Not only being a chair, it also has a shelf underneath and a high back where you can hang towels or clothes. Naturally, it matches the RÅGRUND shelving units, mirror and toilet roll stand. The story of RÅGRUND proves you never know when and where you'll learn something new!

What is bamboo?
Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.
