Hard on bare feetPhilippaI love the colours, sturdiness and price of this runner but the knobs on the sides of runner hurt bare feet. 😀3
This my third Raklev.GizelleThis rug is perfect for our tiny house. It looks beautiful, has perfect size and is last for long time. Once it gets old, we recycle it in our vegetable garden (as a weed mat). Love it!5

RAKLEV RunnerZenaA creative colourful spin on a jute runner! Brightens any hallway or room. Love it.5
Small area rugJillySecond one of these I have bought. Great for under a small table. Attractive and nice heavy weave—my cat loves them. Only negative is hard to clean-difficult to remove stains invisibly due to weave.5
Great floor rug!WendyI've been looking for a new floor rug for a couple of months. Saw this one, first I decided no as it was too small for my room. Then had an idea, I'll join them together. It works a treat! The subtle colors work really well and the jute fades nicely into my color scheme.5

Form design process

Made using the hand loom weaving technique

In a hand loom, horizontal strands (the weft), are woven over and under vertical strands (the warp), repeatedly until the rug is complete. Depending on the complexity of the design, producing a rug with this technique can take from a few days up to several weeks. Unlike other techniques, such as hand-tufting, a hand loom does not produce a pile, rather it creates an even and flat surface. This technique allows for intricate designs and patterns and the rugs tend to be lightweight yet durable. They are also reversible and easy to clean, making them a practical and popular choice.

Material

What is jute?

Jute is a very hardwearing fibre that is found in the stem of the jute plant. It’s an easy-to-grow plant that requires very little fertiliser, pesticides or water and is ready to harvest after only 120 days. The jute fibre is often used for ropes and sacks but is also known for its silky-smooth lustre and can be spun into finer threads which are then woven. In our range we often use woven jute for items like curtains, rugs and furniture.
